CC :: Notts v Durham

It's got its own micro climate has the Riverside. Chilly and breezy.
It always has had. I remember when the old football pitches used to be there in the late 70s/ early 80s and many was the time that a keeper took a goal kick into the wind and to his horror saw the ball was lucky to clear the penalty area. 🤣

There was the famous time when during a Championship game in the late 90s it was raining on one side of the ground but not NW Terrace where the gym is now.🤔
Remember the games against Somerset and Middlesex at home in 2016. Coldest I’ve ever been at any sporting event and that includes football in any December/January in living memory.
I know this will sound like the Four Yorkshiremen sketch but....Two seasons ago we played Northants and it was that cold I did seven circuits of the ground during the lunch interval to try and get my circulation going and our group kept visiting the toilets underneath the Co Durham Stand simply to put their hands under the piping hot water from the sinks.

Nathan Buck who was fielding at Third Man looked at us and said, " You lot must be f*****g mad to be sitting watching cricket in this weather!".......... By the way I should point out that this was in June.😲

However for any fellow oldies on here all I was say is May 1994 ...Gloucestershire at home....at Gateshead Fell - the only time I have ever worn two pairs of jeans.

You will have to teach me how to do that. I had to write the names out on a price of paper then type the names on the thread.
Most from Durham hope they haven't forgot about tomorrow.

Click share, then copy link, then copy and paste it onto here mate.

It’s that simple. The site ‘enhances’ the link in a way that produces the graphic/tweet in that format.

Borthwick
Rushworth
Lees
Carse
Bedingham
Poynter wk
Eckersley
Jones
Salisbury
Raine
Burnham
Thomson
Coughlin
Looks like 2 from Eckersley, Thomson or one of the seamers to miss out.
Not happy with either decision.
Not sure what Eckersley has done wrong. He arrived at the club made a decent impression with bat and gloves and even gets the temporary captaincy albeit with few other willing options and now it appears is 2nd choice to Poynter.
As far as Potts goes I know they will probably rotate the seamers during the first block of championship matches but I thought he might have got first crack after the way he bowled at the end of last season. I hope they don't see him as a one day specialist the way they have with Trevaskis.

probably in an attempt to get him batting longer, i think it says more about sean dickson than it does him.

i'm guessing thompson & salisbury to miss out. my prediction;

Lees, Jones, Borthwick*, Bedingham, Burnham, Eckersley, Poynter+, Raine, Coughlin, Carse, Rushworth

So much for potts being the new ball bowler then

So what's your team for tomorrow Brandon lad?
From the squad selected:

Lees
Jones
Borthwick
Bedingham
Burnham
Eckersley
Poynter
Raine
Coughlin
Carse
Rushworth

That’s how I read it.

potentially a very long batting line up batting all the way down to 10... but alot of question marks on most of those batsmen. get the feeling it lees or borthwick don't go big we might struggle to form partnerships, only really them and eckers who've shown they can stick around.

hopefully burnham proves us wrong but i've given up on him. tbh i never really bought into the hype

Gerrin! First match. Proper cricket is back.

Only a matter of time before Potts is involved.

(still a Salisbury fan too, and I think Poynter is a good wickie)
