CC :: Notts v Durham

brandon

Striker
Here we are again lads, Happy New Season

Starts next Thursday (8 April), getting in early.

Stuart Broad mentioned on commentary yesterday this game would be ‘too soon’ for him.

First stab at a team prediction, hedfing

Lees
Jones
Borthwick
Bedingham
Burnham
Dickson
Eckersley
Poynter
Coughlin
Raine
Potts
Carse
Rushworth

A batsman and a bowler from that to miss out.

Was supposed to say ‘hedging my bets naming 13.’

this is my guess, has carse played any of the preseason? not sure i've seen his name. i'd play him ahead of potts if ready

fairly strong looking side, hopefully a few question marks can be put to bed

Carse played both games. Dickson did not play any of the games, so, assuming he is injured. Wonder if they will play Eckersley as a batter, at 6, and Poynter as keeper ??
Potts opened the bowling in both games, is that a clue ?
If they play Potts then pick one from Carse and Coughlin ??

I agree either Eckersley as a specialist batsmen or they may even go with 5 seamers considering the amount of cricket they play in the first 6 weeks.
Potts to get the new ball with Rushy!
Notts currently playing in a friendly at Edgbaston and are 75/5 approaching lunch playing on a very similar wicket and attack that Durham came up against last week.

83-6 currently and with a very familiar but strong (on paper) lineup:

BT Slater
H Hameed
BM Duckett
JM Clarke
BG Compton
SJ Mullaney
TJ Moores†
LA Patterson-White
ZJ Chappell
BA Hutton
LJ Fletcher

Always think they underachieve given the squad they have and the money they spend.

Notice Fat Sam didn't appear pre-season for Notts. I'd have him on loan in a thrice ahead of Thompson. I'm sure he'd have been tempted if we told him of all the curry shops in the region.
I’m liking your suggestion that we get Patel on loan, not your fat shaming of him
Not the best of conditions forecasted for Thommo on Thursday.Freezing cold fingers
I’d be very surprised to see him play in fairness.

Actually, is he even in the country? Could be playing in some franchise league somewhere....... 🤔

No intention to shame; he was basically told to slim down by England; clearly thought, sod that!
Not aware that he's ever been involved in franchise cricket but he was on loan at Glamorgan in 2019.

He definitely plays in the Pakistan T20 tournament, not sure if he's been away with anything else recently.

I had a walk along the seafront at Seaburn this morning I honestly doubt you could play a serious game of cricket it was that cold in those conditions. Let's hope it's a bit warmer in land and further south on Thursday.

Remember the games against Somerset and Middlesex at home in 2016. Coldest I’ve ever been at any sporting event and that includes football in any December/January in living memory.
