CC : Durham vs Leicestershire

Been following this at work.

Another excellent batting performance from the team. Might be a dead rubber for us but we might as well sign off with a win.

Brilliant from Durham but jesus how far behind are Leicestershire and Worcestershire when you consider they ciuld well finish 2nd and 3rd in the league.
Durham absolutely miles ahead and provided 4 players for England.
Perhaps because Leicester have been so much better than they usually are this season , while Durham should never be in this league as we all know

Durham look a first division outfit but the rest look poor even by div 2 standards.
Apart from that clumsy defeat at Sussex in the season opener where Durham looked the far better side they would have won every game but for the wet summer.

Yet again today Durham simply moved up a gear from 149-4 and simply swatted the Leics attack away as if they were a pesky fly. Another 400+ on the board and well done to Bedders for his effortless century and once again kudos to Campbell for seeing in Clark what the previous coach was blind to. Well done to Clarky for taking his chance by the scruff of the neck and hitting his second successive ton in home games for what has been a memorable season for everyone connected to the club.

This has been a pleasure to watch, not just today, but all season. The plan here is clearly to bat Leicestershire into oblivion. i expect there are a good few runs in us yet. I hope I’m not tempting fate, but I suspect that only the weather will save Leics.

I turned up at 170-4, but once again there were no alarms really. Every time we've been under a little bit of pressure, 2 batters have put together a big partnership to grind the opposition out of the contest. Quite a few of those partnerships have involved Bedders. It looked a chanceless knock today, as it so often does. He's a quality and a stylish bat... probably our best technically. He doesn't get flustered, he doesn't try to take bowers on, if it's there to be hit, he hits and if it isn't he doesn't. It sounds simple, but so few batters seem able to do that

when I quickly checked the score around lunchtime and saw how quickly Borthwick had moved to 63 I was sure he'd rattle off another ton today.... my fault... sorry

When Clark was given out I could hear no noise off the pad at all, in contrast to the great thuds on the couple of appeals where he was given not out, so I assumed the ball must have hit him on the foot... maybe an inswinging yorker.... If anyone knows, I'd like to know

First XI definitely a first division side. Squad depth will be tested in division 1, Surrey have been the stand out side for the last two seasons. Lots of quality players to pick from, with everyone constantly pushing those above.

No it hit pad but at an angle that made me think it was going down, but where we were sat wasnt ideal for judging angles.

15 years ago tomorrow, Durham won their first County Championship at Canterbury. What a day that was. Knocked the last five Kent wickets over in about 90 minutes in glorious sunshine to win by an innings, the final wicket being a golden duck for one MJ Saggers!

Not many of us there to witness it!

I have listened to Marcus North being interviewed by Marty and he was praising Borthwick’s captaincy this season and the team/ squad spirit. Looking at the results the team have had this season, he is not wrong.
Hopefully it continues next season as well as progress in the T20 and 50 over games.

Me and Mrs Carlton were both there.
