CC : Durham v Nottinghamshire

He looked in a lot of pain after diving to stop a ball. So, hoping it's a false alarm.

I generally default to enforcing the follow on, on the basis of when you've got your foot on their throat don't let up.
Aguments for batting again:-------- No Wagner. Because of his age they should be wary of over bowling Hogg. It puts a lot of pressure on Raine, De Leede and Parky to go again straight away.

Turner can turn his arm over to fill in, Scotty too of course and, the pitch is taking turn already and it will continue to do so. So spin will be important and we have 3 spinners in the line up. Only 72 overs have been bowled, the bowlers should be as fresh as they ever are in this situation. Whether we have Wagner or not, we still have to take another 10 wickets to win this match. . . . Lastly, Notts' attitude is bad now, it will be worse being forced to bat again.

I'd enforce the follow on.

But, the one thing we can't know is how the bowlers are feeling are the ready now or what.
Looks like they might get a bit longer with their feet up 🙁🌧️

Summed up very well Bri and it encapsulates most of my thinking too. Interestingly, I think in modern times I’ve been more inclined to go the opposite way and bat again - unless the lead is so massive that it’s daft not to OR time is limited and the only chance of a win is to enforce it.

In this instance I actually believe that neither of those apply (yes, even if we roll them for a lead of 300+) BUT I think we should enforce it. Especially because of Wagner’s injury, especially because it’s turning enough and we’ve got, for once, multiple spin options but also because I think that with the time left in the game it more or less rules out the chance that Notts can save the game without rain.

If we bat again and leave them four sessions it’s easier (in my view) for them to survive that if they’ve got five and a half (or so) sessions to survive because logic would state that at worst we’ll have a white ball style run chase on the final afternoon.

Looked a chance there.from 75 yards away

Yeah it was a drop. Very sharp chance, but in and out nonetheless. Fortunately didn’t cost much.

GERRIN HOGGY!

Maiden First Class wicket for Daniel Hogg as he gets Hutton to edge behind for 11.

Nottinghamshire 229 all out, Durham still lead by 302.

🚨 DURHAM HAVE ENFORCED THE FOLLOW-ON 🚨

87 overs left today if my maths is correct.

Mckinney and Lees didn't run off there so that suggests Notts are following on.

Managed to work out off the stream that we were following-on because Badger walked up to the umpire and gave the international sign for ‘we’ll have a bowl’ and the umpire turned to the dressing rooms to intimate to the Notts balcony they’d need to bat again

Pretty much a perfect start for us though, straight through them, less than 10 overs lost and barely any runs taken from the deficit.

Let Hogg and Raine steam in with the new nut!

Slater dropped by Borthwick off Hogg on 5.

Would’ve been just the start we needed :(

And then Lees in the same over drops him again
