CC : Durham v Nottinghamshire

For those at the Durham game.

Potts should have had two wickets. Root drops Matthews in the slips an absolute dolly and then Kamindu Mendis the next over hits it to backward point and Atkinson misjudges the dive and misses the ball but should have been taken too.

So what are we thinking regarding the follow-on?

Enforce it unless…..?

Personally I think that aslong as we take the last two wickets by Lunch we have to enforce it. Fortunately we have plenty of bowling options even without Wagner. Parky was getting some nice drift and turn so I’d expect him to get through plenty of work.

If the lead is anywhere over 250 then Notts will have to bat for best part of 5 sessions to be able to feel safe.

The Met Office is predicting 60-90% risk of showers through Sunday, so play may be limited. With that in mind, I can’t see any basis on which Durham wouldn’t enforce the follow on?

Enforce it. As said earlier in thread, their attitude appears to be low and there is the weather to consider

100% follow on.

Bugger. Very bad news that.
So, thoughts on the follow-on with Wagner and possibly Hogg injured?

Lead currently 323.
Depends on how quickly we can get the last 2 out. If we get them quick then enforce the follow on. If we don't then bat again to get the lead back upto to 450 ish as quickly as possible and give the bowlers a rest as we look like we are a bowler down.

Unless my hearing is rubbish I think we are a bowler down tomorrow. I'll say nowt else.
He looked in a lot of pain after diving to stop a ball. So, hoping it's a false alarm.

I generally default to enforcing the follow on, on the basis of when you've got your foot on their throat don't let up.
Aguments for batting again:-------- No Wagner. Because of his age they should be wary of over bowling Hogg. It puts a lot of pressure on Raine, De Leede and Parky to go again straight away.
otoh
Turner can turn his arm over to fill in, Scotty too of course and, the pitch is taking turn already and it will continue to do so. So spin will be important and we have 3 spinners in the line up. Only 72 overs have been bowled, the bowlers should be as fresh as they ever are in this situation. Whether we have Wagner or not, we still have to take another 10 wickets to win this match. . . . Lastly, Notts' attitude is bad now, it will be worse being forced to bat again.

I'd enforce the follow on.

But, the one thing we can't know is how the bowlers are feeling are the ready now or what.
