Aye. He's only with us for seven games. If he'd missed 1 or 2 what would be the point of signing him? Reminiscent of Aidan Markram, never played in England before and can't read the wickets.

I think in Durham's defence, he was brilliant v India for SA series, there is no way of telling how they will play. But you just look at Pujara, Masood and a few others to show what an impact someone can have.

Or if we went for a seam bowler, been some gems in division 1

Pujara has played in England for years. Shan Masood played for Durham MCCU years ago. I don't think Petersen had played a single game in England before this season. He came to Durham specifically to practice on English wickets before the test series in August.TBF despite this you would expect an international of his quality to have done much better than he has.

Not sure why like.

Great servant to the club who was unlucky his career peak was a time when we were very strong. Despite that he stayed available whenever we needed him, ending his career as a very useful white ball cricketer and to be honest by the time he called it a day we'd been weakened terribly and relegated and he'd probably have been picked for all formats with a year.

Unlucky not to have had a much better career overall but always gave Durham everything he had.

Was also the type of player who could get big match winning scores. - Under-appreciated.

That's just plain wrong. Everyone has different levels of skill and technique.

Paul Collingwood was a much better player than muchall but more effective than pleasing to the eye.

Jonathon trott was a far better player than James vince but when both in form you'd watch Vince.

Jacque kallis and shiv chanderpaul are two absolute greats of the game but there's hundreds of players you'd sooner watch when in form
 
Don't remember anyone loving Gordon when he was still at the club, just ripping the piss out of his perceived mediocrity. He was better than Petersen and Scott B's Surrey Doppelganger though. A solid 6/10 and a lovely bloke by all accounts, teaches P.E. at Bow School.
