CC :: Durham v Leicestershire

Yeh, there was a time when I was like that. It took a long time to get wealded off the drug.
It's my birthday last game of the season and my aunties on same day I'm getting shit for saying IL stay in Sunderland to watch the game if anything is on it

45£ return on the megabus but it was 9 hours each way ... First time I'd been to Cardiff. It's mint like but the ground was incredibly disappointing. There's a great pub outside the ground but naff all inside.
The county games I wanted to do are all in September so it will be impossible for me to make them as it's busy time at work, so will make the home game (Sussex?) at best. Was hoping for Derby in the summer but never mind. Likely away games will be Nottinghamshire (it's at Grantham on a Sunday) and Leicestershire in the One Day Cup. Lancashire in the T20 away is at Blackpool which is random but appealing. Hopefully get Somerset away in the county championship one day soon, got free digs whenever I need them in Somerset. Not a cheap hobby though county cricket away days.

No away County Championship games for Durham for over 100 days during the season then as you say three away games in September in the East Midlands...couldn't make it up.

I'll get 5 days to carry over and have to be used in September, I'll be fortunate if I get the Sussex game off, got no chance of any of the away games though. It is what it is, I've done ok this year for annual leave for the cricket though. This game for example I've only had to use 1 day of annual leave. Hotels have ramped up prices mind.

Taunton is a lovely ground in a nice setting, worth making the effort. If you ever get an excuse to get to Arundel that's my favourite in the country.

I keep saying 'this is the year' I'll start ticking local grounds off but I've also got eyes on alot of dccc away games while we still exist

Castle Eden is my local team, I've been saying for years I'll pop along.... Still haven't  . Hopefully start and take some local games in soon enough. So many grounds I want to visit, so little time.

Anar right? Whitburn is on me doorstep and I'm barely ever there. Just wish I had faith that cricket exists still when I'm retired but that's a long way off

Loved the 2nds game at Jesmond last August - would recommend a visit (mind you it may have helped it was about 26°C both days.)

Yeah I keep meaning to look at seconds games if they're out and about. Unrelated to that I hear corbridge is a nice ground. And I feel I should take in a game at ashbrooke on principal

I've just spent 4 days out  now nursing sunburn on my face .

I think it may well be a directive to all (Somerset apart seemingly), to make wickets more batting friendly. Someone implied the ECB have asked for this, but I'm not aware of reading such report? Only 2 results in our division so far is a tad telling though.

Needs to be a fine line, can't imagine it's easy to prepare a wicket to please everyone but thought that wicket was very extreme this game. Felt a bit sorry for the bowlers.

Be interesting to see how the wicket plays next week as I'd imagine Broad will be playing.
If that is the ECB directive then I guess it's no surprise we aren't seeing results. One of the test team's problems is not being able to take 20 wickets on pitches like that, it's going to take time to develop spinners/express pace or bowlers learn to adapt their game.

Sure it wasn't your pate? ;) I managed to get my knees burned from the half an hour or so of sunshine on Friday. My own fault for wearing shorts, I was frozen and all.

I am convinced we've made a conscious decision to make batter friendly wickets. They don't casually happen at the Riverside with its proximity to the river and underground stream. Trevaskis wouldn't have played first home game of the season if we weren't expecting a dryish wicket.

We need to wean ourself off the dependency on RFM and spicy wickets anyway. Potts and Coughlin looked dangerous when encouraged to crank things up over shorter spells. Even Ollie Gibson looked towards the sharper end of fast medium.

Stop trying to feign offence to score points on an internet forum, because I said something inoccuous that annoyed you eighteen months ago.

My cousin had special needs and learning difficulties. Just because you have learning difficulties doesn't necessarily mean you won't understand being asked not to shout out when people are bowling.

I’m not trying to feign anything, I just know the lads situation better than you clearly do. His dad is his full time carer and is a smashing fella, I’m fairly certain at some point he’d have tried to ‘curb the lads enthusiasm’ (to coin a phrase) but it is what it is. They go all over the place, to all sorts of sporting events and I’ve seen them at Northern League football quite a bit too - the lad absolutely loves his sport and 99% of the players/teams/officials/supporters that come into contact with him all make a fuss of him and don’t mind one bit that he gets excited.

I’m sorry you’re in the 1%.

I haven’t got a clue what you’re on about regarding eighteen months ago either, you’ll have to refresh my memory.
