Brennan Johnson (signed for Palace)

I think he'd be a definite improvement on what we have currently, but at £35m, with him currently on £150k p/w wages and a hefty signing on fee, that would be a massive chunk of any budget.

I do think he would fit our style of play beautifully though.

The interestingly wrinkle is Johnson’s versatility. Played a lot through the middle too. Perhaps he fits with the idea of a smaller more versatile squad and would see the pitch all across the front three (and in behind too)? Would definitely be more on board if he was left footed though. Really feel like we’re missing that balance in the squad.
 
waste of money a hope we don’t spunk half of our budget on him , decent player but struggling for form a would stay away from this one but that’s just my opinion
 
More I think about this there’s no chance of him coming here. He’ll have better offers and his wages will be huge. I can’t see us splashing that sort of money.
 
I dont see any situation where he choses to come here over Palace unless he is sick of London or we are offering Saudi level money.

It isn't though. Look at his output compared to someone like the Scouse lesbian up the road. He'd go for double what Johnson does

Then we can get shot of the likes of Patterson Alese Hyelde Neil and the dead wood etc

Maybe he fancies a bit of stability at a club that’s on the up and who knows players might also be taking about bit of notice of Regis Le Bris and think he could be good for their career?

Spurs is a total casket case of a club where he’s just experienced a new coach coming in and not fancying him.

Palace will be changing manager this summer too as well as their best player and captain and possibly Wharton too. So he could find himself in a similar position.

I’m not sure Palace is the best sell at the moment. They could well have peaked with their FA Cup win.

I’m not saying we are in for him, but if we can persuade Granit Xhaka to come to Sunderland, why on earth would people think we couldn’t lure a Brennan Johnson here?

Agreed, we as supporters are rarely, if ever, aware of what is happening behind the scenes at clubs.

Sometimes it must be a clash of personalities or a player simply doesn’t fit in. 🤷
