The interestingly wrinkle is Johnson’s versatility. Played a lot through the middle too. Perhaps he fits with the idea of a smaller more versatile squad and would see the pitch all across the front three (and in behind too)? Would definitely be more on board if he was left footed though. Really feel like we’re missing that balance in the squad. There aren't many (if any) transfers that are risk free but I'd be fairly confident a player like Johnson would improve us and make us a better side. You wouldn't get many players available for £35m who bagged 18 goals last season
I get the argument you're making but if we're to push on as we all want we have to make a signing(s) that improve us for the here and now
Half of our budget? Where is this information about our budget?waste of money a hope we don’t spunk half of our budget on him , decent player but struggling for form a would stay away from this one but that’s just my opinion
Exactly, and where has this £150k a week for his wages came from?Half of our budget? Where is this information about our budget?
am speaking in hignsight don’t worry it’s not gospel it’s a message boardHalf of our budget? Where is this information about our budget?
You’d question why they are letting him go for that if they bought him for 50In the main football ‘fans’ on message boards know the root sum of fuck all.![]()
Yeah we couldThe interestingly wrinkle is Johnson’s versatility. Played a lot through the middle too. It isn't though. Look at his output compared to someone like the Scouse lesbian up the road. He'd go for double what Johnson doesSpurs fans think he’s absolutely shite
35 million for him is insanely overpriced
1 of the missing pieces of jigsaw, along with another gk, defender, midfielder & a forwardI think he'd be a definite improvement on what we have currently, but at £35m, with him currently on £150k p/w wages and a hefty signing on fee, that would be a massive chunk of any budget.
I do think he would fit our style of play beautifully though.
Maybe he fancies a bit of stability at a club that’s on the up and who knows players might also be taking about bit of notice of Regis Le Bris and think he could be good for their career? We're more than ok with PSR, and we're about 7 or 8pts from guarenteed safety, with loads more sky money to come, but i just cannot see him wanting to come here over Palace, who are an established PL club, paying in Europe, he wouldn't have to move.....no brainer for him really
Probably wiser not to mention himYou must be logged on to see media itemsIf he signs I hope it goes better than the last Johnson to play on the wing for us.
Agreed, we as supporters are rarely, if ever, aware of what is happening behind the scenes at clubs. You’d question why they are letting him go for that if they bought him for 50
Shows why we shop abroad a lot
I dont think we will be either.Wouldn't think we'll even be in for him.
No but usually players of higher quality are a higher price. We just found bargains. It means if we find the right player we’re willing to play good amountsPrice is immaterial, thats driven by the market not ability.
If price is the gauge then our back 5 must be shocking
