Boro thread

And Newcastle have and will always be bigger than Sunderland

You do know about population catchment areas ?
Given scumcastle has virtually double that of us, it's little wonder really, that they can pull in bigger numbers.

Six top tier titles to their 4.

57 consecutive seasons in top tier ( to their 32) - only bettered by Everton and Arsenal iirc.

Being begged by them in the early days to play friendlies to help them survive.

Aye, I just won't get to sleep anymore worrying about that comment.

Least antogonistic post I think I've seen you make on here marra.
I was gonna give a 'like' for that, but I'm not sure how it was meant 😜

You know mate, I honestly don't set out to be antagonistic or argumentative.
I just see things from a different perspective and think it's disrespectful when folk go on about other clubs being 'tinpot' etc, and dissing them just cos their ground is smaller or they haven't got as many fans etc.
I.know it's not just a sunderland thing - believe it or not some Boro fans go on the same - I suppose it's just that some folk in all walks of life have that kind of attitude.

Anyway, I'm babbling on now.
Suffice to say I don't mean to be argumentative, I just have opinions (not always right I admit)

I think (based on nowt but my gut) that Boro were the most likely to do something in the Prem.

I think Luton or Cov would be whipping boys. Again based on nowt but a feeling.
Sheff United will come straight back down again anarl (along with either of them two) imo.

No one else except your own fans are arsed
That's as maybe but it is still something to be proud of. We were in the 3rd division and got averages of 30K for four years and they didn't drop off. They were the biggest crowds ever at that level, bigger than Man City or Leeds when they were down there. And, despite your sad little posts on a rivals boards, if you go on other, less bitter. clubs message boards you would read that other clubs fans actually are impressed. Its us, as fans who have done this. Its not posting sad, bitter liitle comments on a rivals message boards, its sticking with the club in four years of real adversity. You may not value such loyalty or recognise it but I'm afraid plenty of other clubs fans do. I can only think you must be a tad disappointed in the rather disappointing crowds you ahve got over the years that has led to your rather sad postings.

As I say we have precious little to shout about but the loyalty of our fans is one thing.

I'm obviously gutted that we (Boro) didn't go up (or even reach the final), be interesting to see where we go from here, but in a way I'm quite happy for whoever (Luton or Cov) goes up.
Both clubs have had more than their fair share of shit to put up with in recent years and hopefully they can ruffle a few feathers amongst the 'elite' clubs.

I'm not overly bothered what other clubs fans think of Boro or our fans, but I must admit your attendances are impressive - there really is nobody (imo) that can realistically argue with that.

Luton along with Millwall are teams that use persistent fouling as a prime tactic. It is absolutely relentless and they then dispute every blatant free kick that is rewarded. It is pretty much cheating and must be practised on the training ground. For that reason I am not keen on them. They would argue that is the only way they can compete but I would accept. Boro, on the otherhand, play good football. Carrick has clearly improved the performances of all of your players. I prefer to see less cynical football prosper. Luton were more like the old Wimbledon of old. That is not sour grapes, just an observation.

Fair comment

I am not bothered about what other fans think but I am proud of the amazing loyalty of our fans. I think we are right to be proud of it. My point about other fans was that our fantastic crowds are recognised by other fans. We are rightfully respected by many other clubs fans. It was your fellow boro fan's rather desperate desire to say that no one else notices us that prompted my remarkes

Wasn't meaning to disagree mate, sorry if it came across that way.
Of course you're right to be proud of your support, and yeah, Boro fans (or any other) would be proud of those types of numbers (especially after league one etc).
Just meant with us - it is what it is and I'm quite happy knowing who I support (for my sins).
