Pricey but market forces are pushing things up. Look at Shaw, Ulloa and McCormack. Just hope we get it over the line now. 3 months ago I'd have said that was too high but this is where we are, and I'll be pleased if it gets sorted.

Follow this up with getting the two on loan defenders back, sorting a new deal out for Wickham and then we can add a few new players, possibly on loan, in key positions (CB, CM) toward the end of the window.

I'd be happy enough with that.

me too :)

Happy he's staying, but 14m is a big fee.
Have to agree. It's a pretty big gamble. 6 mil, if they turn out shite, you can sell for 2-3 mil. If you get stuck with a guy at 14mil, the loss is much, much bigger.

That being said, Borini is a good technically and works hard, so his value won't go down too much even if he can't reach 10 goals again.

See his twitter profile say's on loan @SAFC so assume he will at least be here in some form next season (not playing for Liverpool either before some smart arse starts) :D

Expensive but 10m rising to 14m isn't anywhere near as bad as some fees paid for other players recently.

If Alonso is available for 3m and vergini for 500k I'm not sure why we haven't done these deals yet though. Get them in and we can concentrate on getting a decent cm in

Don't really get the massive love in, especially at this price.

Decent player who works hard, but he's certainly nothing special.

Decent? Haway man, loads of players are "Decent".

He scored ten goals in a shite team which was in turmoil for too much of the season and did so playing wide. He is an obviously better player now than when Liverpool bought him for £10m two years ago.

He also, despite it meaning nothing too him materially, slogged his guts out for the cause, and did so when it looked lost. Haway back Fabio lad.

He was excellent in some games last season (Both Mags games, Wembley, Man United home, Swansea etc)

But there was also a lot of time he went missing and didn't quite have a good game.

I'd much rather we signed two players for £14m than one Borini, sorry I just think we're spending it unwisely.
Aye, that gets you two top strikers in the form of Graham and Altidore.

That's the way the market is this year, Hull paid £8m for Snodgrass and McCormack went for £11m. Fabio is already proven at this level and young enough to improve, good business imo.

I agree the market is inflated, I just think that as a club who desperately needs 4/5 PL level players, spending £14m on one isn't good business.

As it stands today I feel like we've been absolutely done, he scored 7 (?) goals some were penalties. But I'll reconsider that when the window is shut and I can compare against what will likely to be other expensive looking deals.

Who's to say there isn't more in the kitty to spend?
Many of the games he 'went' missing every fucker else did also he was supplied by the likes or colback last season who didn't have the balls to pick out his runs etc.
If Borini turned up every game he'd be off to a top top team. It's down to Gus to unlock this.

Just to make some people feel a little better.....The Reds will bank around £12million with a further £2million in add-ons – ensuring they make a profit on the £10million they paid Roma to secure Borini’s services in the summer of 2012

I love him but not many goals in open play in league
