Pricey but market forces are pushing things up. Look at Shaw, Ulloa and McCormack. Just hope we get it over the line now. 3 months ago I'd have said that was too high but this is where we are, and I'll be pleased if it gets sorted.

Follow this up with getting the two on loan defenders back, sorting a new deal out for Wickham and then we can add a few new players, possibly on loan, in key positions (CB, CM) toward the end of the window.
I'd be happy enough with that.
Seriously - if we had paid 10 instead of 12 rising to 14, what difference does it make to you or I as supporters.Happy he's staying, but 14m is a big fee.
Already proved himself in my opinion.
Have to agree. It's a pretty big gamble. 6 mil, if they turn out shite, you can sell for 2-3 mil. If you get stuck with a guy at 14mil, the loss is much, much bigger.Happy he's staying, but 14m is a big fee.
I echo the sagacious sentiment expressed in this fabulous post+another midfielder before the portcullis grinds into its vertical repose.Alonso and Vergini next. Our preseason team should have a familiar look to it.
Don't really get the massive love in, especially at this price.
Decent player who works hard, but he's certainly nothing special.
Aye, that gets you two top strikers in the form of Graham and Altidore. He was excellent in some games last season (Both Mags games, Wembley, Man United home, Swansea etc)
But there was also a lot of time he went missing and didn't quite have a good game.
I'd much rather we signed two players for £14m than one Borini, sorry I just think we're spending it unwisely.
That's the way the market is this year, Hull paid £8m for Snodgrass and McCormack went for £11m. Fabio is already proven at this level and young enough to improve, good business imo.
Lads n lasses, we've only agreed a fee. Who says he wants to sign

Who's to say there isn't more in the kitty to spend? He was excellent in some games last season (Both Mags games, Wembley, Man United home, Swansea etc)

I love him but not many goals in open play in leagueDecent? Haway man, loads of players are "Decent".
He scored ten goals in a shite team which was in turmoil for too much of the season and did so playing wide. He is an obviously better player now than when Liverpool bought him for £10m two years ago.
He also, despite it meaning nothing too him materially, slogged his guts out for the cause, and did so when it looked lost. Haway back Fabio lad.
