Borini

Absolute rubbish.

Tell me how the way we've handled the Connor Wickham situation is not amateur? Or, if it's true, the Borini negotiations. Or found ourselves hiring a new manager every year, or for no good reason f***ing up the away support application process, or letting Colback (and others) run down his contract and leave for nowt
You havent mentioned the childish statement released about Colback. Or the pink seats. Tell everyone about the pink seats ;)
Seriously tho, I've said before we're inept at times, and the Borini thing is massively embarrassing. The club said 2 weeks ago they wanted a striker in by the weekend just gone, I mean why issue stupid f***ing statements like that?

Given that this thread is 155 pages long I don't know if anyone has suggested the scenario in which the club knew he wasn't interested all along? It might be cynical but it seems quite plausible. We knew he didn't want to come but we pushed it just in case he changed his mind (based on pressure from Liverpool to leave?) AND to make sure that our fans knew it was his decision and not because of our lack of money or ambition.

If we knew he didn't want to come, the club doesn't really lose anything with how this has played out. We get to say "we tried, we have the cash and we want top players at the club".

Youd have thought someone at the club would have his or his agents mobile numbers and gave them a quick buzz to ask before doing it though:lol:

That would still be hypothetical though, and people often change their minds once it stops being hypothetical. "if Liverpool agree to sell you, and if we were prepared to pay you this much..." is a lot weaker than "Liverpool want to sell you. We want you here. We'll pay you this much."

Nothing wrong with us having given it a go.

There are so many conflicting stories flying about, some quite reliable sources claiming totally contradictory information, it's getting hard to know what's going on.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of this is his agent desperately trying to flush other interest out, hoping for a team in Serie A maybe?[/QUOTE]
I would be, if he was I doubt he'd be talking about how Borini wanted to stay at Liverpool.

It's true that Borini has always been clear about wanting to be at Liverpool this season. But it's also reasonable for us to have thought that he might be willing to change his mind once Liverpool started buying other forwards, and once they accepted a bid for him. There's nothing "poor" about us having tested the waters with a concrete bid, and seeing what Borini thought once presented with a firm decision.

There are any number of players who might change their mind under the circumstances.
Fair enough like but I'm not sure how a concrete bid would change his mind any more than a suggestion of a bid, i just think it seems like a waste of time if there's no interest from the player.

What if Borini had said i want to see a contract offer?
If that's the case so be it like  It just seems as if he wasn't interested going by reports.

 Fair one, that was a fuck up! The club admitted as such, doesn't mean the entire running of the club is rank and incompetent. We wouldn't be surviving as a large business if it were. Too many on here hate all things SAFC (not you by the way).

I genuinely don't know what you're referring to, I've never had an issue.
Not the entire club, but when it comes to transfers there does seem to be a lack experience and/or knowledge or at least was. Hopefully lessons have been learnt though. One result of that those mistakes is that the club may take longer to complete deals than other clubs as they must ensure everything is correct.

Actually I've just looked and someone who was listed by the fa as our club secretary over the agent isnt list on the safc website anymore so maybe changes have been made at the level.

Not said that - could have been played more in our team or sold earlier. Actually we ignored the lad, shipped him out to everywhere under the sun and got lucky as fuck that he scored some goals at the end of the season which have kept us up. And now, what are we doing about it? It doesn't look to be alot and we face ending next season with a replica of the Colback scenario.

I don't know and I'm guessing you don't either. Just because the club isn't in the press every day telling the world how much it's offering someone it doesn't mean they're not doing anything.

You're saying we 'ignored' him. If he had shown the application in training required then he would have been unignorable. Even MON said he was the last to arrive at training and the first to leave. That's not ignoring a player that's giving players who've shown application and professionalism a chance over those who according to the manager, showed neither.

Aye true, but linking it to other supposed stories knocking about you could read between the lines to see it as him saying he wants CL football and would rather fight for a place at Liverpool than leave for a club not in Europe, whilst coughing and nudging Roma with his elbow.

Fuck knows what's going on, I just hope the club aren't putting all their eggs into one suave, Italian shape basket.

Fabio Borini's agent has told the Italian media that the forward will be turning down Sunderland's offer to fight for his place at Liverpool

I haven't felt this sad since Diana died. Might as well wrap the whole thing in now, literally no point in even trying this season.

When Dumbledore died in the 6th Harry Potter book for me

Tbh I dont know why Borini would try to fight for his place at Liverpool, if they do get Remy in as well he's fourth choice striker.

157 pages? We should start a poll.

Will Borini sign for SAFC?

1. Yes

2. No

3. Don't know

Anyone that answers 1 or 2 gets an instant, permanent ban.

Liverpool are one of the worlds very biggest football clubs, Borini will rightfully want to try and make it there if he can. He will get plenty of opportunities there this season with them also having European football.

Can't see him breaking into consistently the first team though.
If he's ok with being a cup player then fair enough.
