Borini

Fabio Borini's agent has told the Italian media that the forward will be turning down Sunderland's offer to fight for his place at Liverpool

I haven't felt this sad since Diana died. Might as well wrap the whole thing in now, literally no point in even trying this season.

I've changed my mind. He's not coming back.

I'm surprised given how he seemed to enjoy himself here, but if he has aspirations for greater things then good luck to him. Good player, but has some way to go before he reaches the CL levels he appears to aspire to.

We should nip this in the bud, move on and not engage with him any more.

There are so many conflicting stories flying about, some quite reliable sources claiming totally contradictory information, it's getting hard to know what's going on.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of this is his agent desperately trying to flush other interest out, hoping for a team in Serie A maybe?

This is what bailey is referring too, how the fuck he got will turn us down from it god only knows :

"After the loan Liverpool did not tell me anything. He will remains for me, he is convinced to gamble. In Rome there were Totti, Osvaldo, Lamela, and Bojan: he has no fear of playing with anyone, for me he can be part of any staff of a top club," said his agent when asked about his future with Liverpool.

Of course they wouldn't!! We are a professional and well run club as much as many on here love to dispute it based on no knowledge or understanding of what goes on behind closed doors. Just an apparent inherent dislike and self loathing of all things SAFC.

It makes me smile when I read all the arm chair experts saying how managers are tactically inept but it really makes me laugh when people think they know better when it comes to the overall running of a club - pomposity in the extreme.
Absolute rubbish.

Tell me how the way we've handled the Connor Wickham situation is not amateur? Or, if it's true, the Borini negotiations. Or found ourselves hiring a new manager every year, or for no good reason f***ing up the away support application process, or letting Colback (and others) run down his contract and leave for nowt

He's just quoting the TMW link that was posted here hours ago.

On another note, only 6 hours 45 mins until the 24 hour deadline the Mirror said we had given him to sign.

That's so random it made me chuckle. :-)

Like I said if he's said that it's obviously not our fault but you would think surely before negotiating around our biggest transfer of the summer we would find out if the player has an interest.

Best way to find out surely is to put an offer on the table like we did?

What do you mean 'the way we've handled the Connor Wickham situation?'

Before the last six games of the season he'd done nothing in a Sunderland shirt to warrant a contract extension.

Short memories.

Which other club has been fined for using an illegal agent and playing an ineligible Player this year?

We've found ourselves in a position where a player holds all the cards yet again and we facing missing out on millions of pounds because it hasn't been addressed. I think people sometimes get carried away with the money that gets banded around in football but if I was Ellis Short i'd be inclined to sack members of the club who have allowed such situations to get to where they are - Colback for fuck sake, negligence in that scenario has seen us lose out on, generously, £5m. That's absolutely rank for something which could easily have been avoided

Another example, too many to mention man

And I'll say again - what had Connor Wickham done in a Sunderland shirt to warrant a new deal? Bruce didn't play him, MON didn't play him, PDC didn't play him and Ball didn't play him either. Poyet only did so as a last throw of the dice.

That's every single sunderland manager since he signed who didn't think he'd shown enough to warrant even starting regularly but you're having a go at the club for not extending his contract?

What Connor Wickham situation? Prior to the last five games the experts on here would have been up in arms if he'd been offered another lucrative contract, hindsight's a wonderful thing. As far as I know the club are now negotiating with him.

You can't force a player to sign a new contract, since the Bosman ruling players hold all the cards. We offered Colback a contract that the club will have believed to be his worth he chose a better offer at the club he supported as a boy and that all his family support. It couldn't have been offered sooner as we didn't know what league we were going to be in and last summer, to free up wages, we were actively trying to shift the likes of Bardsley but injuries and other factors meant that no fees were forthcoming so we lost them on a bosman - I don't see getting the wages of Bardsley, Vaughan and Gardner off the books as mismanagement.

What fuck up with the away support allocation? You mean taking the smaller allocations based on historical attendances where the club has lost money on taking the larger allocations?

Not said that - could have been played more in our team or sold earlier. Actually we ignored the lad, shipped him out to everywhere under the sun and got lucky as fuck that he scored some goals at the end of the season which have kept us up. And now, what are we doing about it? It doesn't look to be alot and we face ending next season with a replica of the Colback scenario.

Poor from the club imo if we have been pursuing a player who has no intention to even join us (if reports are true obviously)

It's true that Borini has always been clear about wanting to be at Liverpool this season. But it's also reasonable for us to have thought that he might be willing to change his mind once Liverpool started buying other forwards, and once they accepted a bid for him. There's nothing "poor" about us having tested the waters with a concrete bid, and seeing what Borini thought once presented with a firm decision.

There are any number of players who might change their mind under the circumstances.

People are unusually determined to blame someone for this "travesty". Either Borini himself, or the people at the club trying to make the deal.

I said the application process.

 Fair one, that was a fuck up! The club admitted as such, doesn't mean the entire running of the club is rank and incompetent. We wouldn't be surviving as a large business if it were. Too many on here hate all things SAFC (not you by the way).

I genuinely don't know what you're referring to, I've never had an issue.

Youd have thought someone at the club would have his or his agents mobile numbers and gave them a quick buzz to ask before doing it though:lol:
