Other than Kirchoff how many of that line up would you have said were better than ours on paper?

Admittedly our players have been a massive let down but the likes of Oviedo, Kone, Cattermole, Williams, McGeady, MacManaman, Fletcher, Gibson, McNair, O'Shea etc should have been able to achieve mid table in this league without too much trouble. Until January we were also able to call upon Grabban and Ndong I just cannot understand how we've been so bad.
This! So much criticism of the men in suits (not saying that is wrong btw) but it is unforgivable that current players and coaching staff have us in this position!
We should have been comfortable this year - nothing more, nothing less. The ability is there to achieve this - I can only assume there is a toxic atmosphere throughout the squad and club as a whole. A horrible working environment does not produce great work and is not conducive to allowing individual qualities to flourish.
Think we need to sweep the decks clean and anyone used to premier league money needs to go. I can’t help but think that players feeling like failures and playing for 40% less money is a key element of the bad vibes that are undoubtably circulating.

Hi, Bolton fan here, please don't crucify me!

I've been reading some comments about your current situation, and I've just come here to try and reasure you if I can.

I know we are both fighting for our lives and Bolton aren't anywhere near safety yet, but if you do go down to League 1, it isn't the end, in fact it might be the start of something new for your club.

We went down to League 1 2 seasons ago, with just 30 points, a record low, had near 200m in debt, players and staff wages not paid, and in the news constantly for all the bad reasons.

But slowly we rebuilt in League 1, got new owners, new manager and enjoyed one of my favourite seasons as a Bolton supporter, in comparison to misery we endured in the Prem and Championship. We didn't win the league, but to see everybody smiling again was very rewarding after the last 6 years of our decline.

League 1 is an appalling league, and all I'm saying is if Bolton could get promoted, you certainly can. Seeing a near packed out stadium for the last few home matches was incredible again.

I really hope you stay up, and hopefully in the future Sunderland vs Bolton will be a premier league match again.

All the best.

As the only Mackem living in Westhoughton, I often have a chat with Bolton fans about our plight - possibly even you!
If we both go down then that would be a shame for both clubs but I think we'll both come back.

And yes, @becs did meet me outside The Reebok as it was then!
That was an alarming amount of time ago

That’s what’s i keep hearing people saying, that Grayson and Coleman could do nothing with this squad. Why?

How are Bolton and Barnsley and even f***ing Burton punching above us? Because their managers are getting a very limited squad to fight like fuck.

Is that not what they mean, when they say that they could do nothing with this squad, though?

Ie The players refuse to "fight like fuck" - there's nothing the manager can do about it.

I think we all know they're limited footballers, but we are where we are down to attitude and application of a majority IMHO.
