Blackburn Commentary Said This Today (unless my ears...)

No, but surely there should be something in the contract of employment stating that if you support another club, you don't openly state to anyone, especially the visiting team, that you hope Sunderland get beat.

And as someone said previously, there should be some sort of background check, going through social media etc, to see if the prospective employee is a mag gobshite who openly hates Sunderland.

Yeah that’s a fair point.
Employers have a right to expect their employees not to be an embarrasment (or cause embarrasment) to the business (and that includes when they are not at work).

Very true.

Genuinely do people think that one of the questions when applying should be “Are you a mag?” And if they answer “yes” then their application binned off. Don’t think that would go down to well with discrimination employment laws.
Every decision should come with a risk assessment. Mags present a risk. As we have repeatedly seen. Perhaps Mags have the unprofessional gene. Or we continue to be extremely unlucky in finding and employing those outliers.

I'm sure it would be, but actively saying you want your employers to fail must be a reason for dismissal imo.

As has been pointed out, imagine if a customer turned up at a business you were employed at, and you told them the businesses service/product is shite and they should give their custom to a rival firm. I don't think you'd last long.
I was making light of it mate, replying to "why do we employ mags". I'm sure gross misconduct comes into it which is a sackable offence.

From top to bottom the club is a shambles. It is down to the ownership pure and simple.

I mean Haway like

If someone working at tesco acts like a twat do you instantly blame the CEO?

Bit of a stretch that like

you can’t have a policy saying you need to support Sunderland

This bloke should obviously be disciplined mind

It says more about him than it does about the club mind

Think it'll be against the law not to give them jobs because of who they support. Just to be clear they wouldn't get a job if I was the employer, at the club or any other workplace

You can dress up the reason for not hiring someone. ‘We just don’t think you’ll fit into our culture’, ‘we went with a more qualified candidate’, ‘your stench is going to put off the other colleagues’, that kind of thing.

A simple "are you involved in any terrorism activities or institutions?" a bit like on the USA visa waiver forms should suffice.

Not actually sure it would be against any laws as being a mag isn't one of the protected characteristics. Could be wrong though.

It is a bit shit if people are blatantly taking the piss by saying stuff like that mind. There's obviously going to be mags working at safc and vice versa but they should be acting like the representatives of the club that they're paid to be.

Exactly. Presumably SAFC (like most businesses these days) will have a 'code of conduct' that lays out what is not acceptable. You can get a flavour of it when players and managers get interviewed. They tend to choose their words carefully. If there is one, this mag is obvs breaching it.

Michael Chopra and Lee Clark love this post.

For something as personal as a football club I think it can filter down from the top. Having some pride and passion in all aspects of the club will definitely rub off on the staff, at the very least them not making these comments. Whoever has said this has done so in the comfort that his higher ups won’t care.
Cheap sauce does. He/she/they are a bit strange.
You’re the strangest of them all

Possibly but still guess work, its more likely to just be a thick mag doing some temp work.

I just feel people jumping on every little thing to highlight wider issues. When things are going class at succesful club there will still be things happenin, just dont get hyped

Having said that hope this fucker gets fired

It’s should be implied.

For temps i’d agree if they’re down servicing in the concourse or whatever I wouldn’t be arsed what they’d be saying unless they’re threatening people like the ticket office mag .

If this blokes in a Sunderland suit and welcoming visitors and away teams I’m unsure if he’d be a temp. Needs looked into first.

And to think they banned staff working in BCB v Newcastle from wearing anything relating to SAFC 🤣
