Black Lives Matter

Racism exists in many firms though, not just someone saying "you're black, you can't have this job".

Take Sterling's example about the media. Two young footballers, one black, one white. They both bought houses for their mams. The black was described as "flash" for buying a house outright with the added "despite never starting a game" whereas it simply said the white player bought a house for his mam.

You think that is in anyway racist?

In this country it certainly isn’t far off.

We are in danger of now putting black people on a pedestal to the point where they become untouchable. Look at that carry on in London other day, police stop a black kid and have some busy body in their face accusing them of being racist, turns out said kid had a knife!

Pedestals are banned ye knacka....

sorry I fucked up the initial reply to you

Of course racism exists in firms and everywhere else, i'm not arguing it doesn't.
It exists in the prejudice of individuals not in the system of laws.

As to Sterling's example I have no idea if its racism, It could well be that the reporter has a prejudiced view of black people and thinks they are flash with their money. It could also be that he just thinks that particular footballer is a flash bastard.
for all I know the white lad could be a paul scholes type and the black lad could have been mario balotelli.

And this ladies and gents is the gammon fear. Do absolutely fuck all about things they are moaning about but if another race/religion dare speak up about inequality I’m going to piss my daily mail lined pants and start shouting.

just curious what does "gammon fear" mean, not heard the term before.

And what are you doing exactly?

The “black lad” was Tosin Adarabioyo and the “white lad” was Phil Foden. At that point I believe Adarabioyo had played more first team games (albeit not for Man City) than Foden.

I read the article, are you asking me to give my opinion if it was racist journalism or were you just drawing my attention to it?

The latter. Although I’m interested to see if there’s anything to give the reporter an impression of Adarabioyo being a “flash bastard”.

I assumed when you quoted my post you were directing your comments at me.
When I said that there is racism in the country, I wasn't saying you were racist. When I said equality for women doesn't mean less rights for men, I didn't mean you're anti-women's rights.

If that wasn't clear, I apologise.

What's the "Gammon fear" is that a racial slur?

The first question i would ask is was it the same reporter, there is no reference to it.
from reading Sterling's gripe you just can't tell can you, as you say there might be just something that gives the reporter the impression that he is bit of a flash bastard and it has nothing to do with his skin colour.

Maybe the reporter is a racist, maybe it's two different reporters one of whom thinks footballers get paid to much and they are all a bunch of flash fuckers and the other doesn't share that view. maybe he turns up to training wearing more bling than Mr T and the other doesn't.
I really have no idea the mind of the reporter.

No sweat i was probably just being a bit overly defensive

I dunno is it the lefty slur of attack these days?
It refers to the puce coloured men who get angry at two blokes getting married on Eastenders, who are apoplectic at Easter Eggs not having the word Easter written on them (even when they do), who prefix a racist opinion with "I'm not racist, but...", who think BLM somehow means white lives don't matter.

Are you one of those?

Sticking to this country:

The reason why many people don't support the BLM movement is because what they say they want isn't actually what they want.
Their first message to you is all we are asking for is equal opportunities to white people, we don't want to take anything from you we just want the same as you.
This is a message that it's really easy to get on board with as the vast majority of us would agree with that 100%, I know I do.
Then however once they have the support on that initial message they start to push their agenda which has nothing to do with equality of opportunity and is all about equality of representation.

In the UK today their are no opportunities afforded white people that are not afforded to black people or if there are I would be very keen for someone to inform me about it, there are no barriers in their way other than the individual prejudice that people have, something every human being faces to varying degrees.
Individual prejudice is not overcome by rioting, looting, forcing someone to employ someone because they have the desired coloured skin etc etc this breeds resentment and division and doesn't help black people.
In other words the law doesn’t allow for discrimination therefore it doesn’t happen? Basically we need to accept that people are prejudiced and black people need to suck it up in a predominately white country?
I’d be very interested to see what strategies you would come up with to address the issues and whether you would genuinely want to.
