Bid rejected for Clarke

It doesn't matter if Clarke has achieved all he can in the Championship or not, he will of course be interested in playing in the PL and trebling his salary.

Club size doesn't matter, it might if we were also in the PL.

If he does and performs then he will go for £30m plus. So why the fuck should we subsidise Burnley’s profits.
Achieved all he can. Wtf. He’s achieved 1 good season man. We know he’s a decent player but that’s just rubbish.
They have spent around €63 mill so far.
They are running out of money and scatching around for bargains.
They can fuck off

Exactly my thoughts. We should be selling to Burnley at his future selling price from them. Bugger add ons and instalments. Full value in bank transfer up front.

My preference is to keep him but if he really wants away then any sale should be on our terms.

If he is happy to stay then Burnley can fuck off

It's a shop window.

He goes Burnley performs well and a bigger club could then buy him.

He's achieved all he can at championship level. Anyone who thinks a move to Burnley isn't a step up is deluded

His strength is attacking. At Burnley, he will spend most of his time defending and will not get to show his ability. Personally, I would only leave Sunderland for a team that fits my strengths but do not know the financial details. Would be surprised and disappointed if he did go because he spoke at end of last season of being settled and valued. He and Roberts are in same boat and he has advantage of being younger and still having time to make that step up. Next summer is a different matter if we don't push on or look like getting promoted in near future.

If we don't go up this season I would expect him to go next summer, and would be fine with it. We will get a good wedge, and he will have earned his move.
I think most people would accept that.

Thanks for sharing! Any truth in people trying to unsettle him?

Not that we've been told. There has been definite interest from other clubs, but he has been adamant all the way through he is happy here, they're buying a house up here.
So what would your opinion of Sky reporter Keith Downie saying on his Twitter account yesterday that Clarke wants to play in the Premier League (of course he does but Downie clearly trying to unsettle him unless he’d spoken to Clarke who’d said I want to leave now!)?

Downie is an NUFC sycophant and his attitude/behaviour in relation to Saudi AFC and his disinterest in SAFC was summed up in his tweet in my opinion. He knows exactly what he’s doing.

Its absolute bullshit and is Downie reacting to the grief he's had for not reporting anything of note from SAFC over the summer.

Of course Jack wants to play in the Premier League, but he thinks he can do it with us

Achieved all he can at Championship level...seriously? How about promotion? He's had 1 very good season.

Promotion is what a team achieves not a player.

He's already shown he's too good for this league. I'd love him to stay but those trying to argue a move to Burnley wouldn't be a good one are a bit mental.

He would play regularly in a side who play similar football to ourselves at a higher level for more money.

People are acting like he should only leave if someone like a big 6 side bid 😂

I'd like to think where he and Roberts are concerned, that playing in a young, vibrant team with what appears to be great camaraderie and a 'caring' manager, counts for a lot.

Both have had ups and downs in their careers. Now they're enjoying their football, getting game time and being allowed to express themselves. That has to count for something, you'd hope and both appear content at the SOL.

If we don't go up, then maybe they will leave, who knows? The way I see it, if either of both keep on improving then their market value increases anyway.

Also, being a bit cynical, I'm sure Clarke might have his ambitions set higher than Burnley with due respect to them .

Sorry but that's not true. So all those Man U players never actually won the league? Liverpool players didn't win the Champions League? It was just their teams achievement right? 🤣

I do agree with the rest of your post mind.

What are you on about 😂
I have edited my post to say I agree with the rest of your post haha.

You claim promotion s not an achievement for a player, that their team achieved it. By that logic, winning the Champions League is not an achievement for a player.....that's my point 🤣

Youre claiming Im not a fan of Sunderland and the same time agreeing with blatant lies that someone else has posted about me having a breakdown. Pathetic
Either you’re a troll or you’re unhappy about something in your life and you’re projecting on here. You know which it is.

Needs 1 more year at least, we could be right there next season and he will not have to move. We will still have 2 years left on his contract as well.

He goes, our chances decrease a lot. He is a highly valuable asset to us and he should understand that.

Is that your thoughts or fact?
Clarke is more than happy here.

There's two ways of looking at it. There's what you describe in your post...

Then you have to look at things from the perspective of Clarke joining Burnley. He'd be playing in the PL this coming season, with all the spotlight that it brings. He could massively increase his profile and he may prefer playing for Kompany. IF Burnley get relegated but he makes a good account of himself, he could be in a position to get another PL move. Maybe even to a top half club. All while we're still battling for promotion in the Championship.

A year can make a big difference in a footballers career.
