Maybe they feel if they keep pissing about putting bids in then they hope to unsettle him and have him hand in a transfer request?
You would think the only minor encouragement we have given them is saying “every player has their price..”, but I would have thought that sentence was finished with “…and his is over double what you have currently bid” but they’ve just ignored that and been very vocal about increasing the bid by a fiver each time

It’s not in the models best interests to sell a “star” player to an obviously smaller club PL than ourselves even if theyve PL money burning holes in their pockets. Selling to a Villa, WHU, Everton, sized PL club or whoever constitute the “big” clubs at the time illustrates a path to our other current and potential players both home and abroad that we are a worthwhile career move.
If all we do is move em on to Burnley, Sheff Utd, Luton, Fulham etc then future signings will think they may as well have just hung on where they are until one of those came calling.
