Bid rejected for Clarke

The idea of tinpot Brentford bidding £9 million for our best player is lamentable. Enough of this nonsense.
They might be tin pot in your eyes but they just got 152.4m in TV money for finishing 9th. We got giddy for finishing 7th......

Proximity to London, defined playing style and in the Prem - ask 100 footballers and 99 say they are more attractive than us at the moment.

Be loads of people on here confused if he signed a new deal. When we allegedly don't want to keep people and only want to sell first chance we get.

The misery mob will claim its so we can get a better fee, ignoring that he has three years to run at the moment anyway.

Fabrizio Romano reporting we are negotiating a new contract with him as the club consider him "vital to promotion".
People seem to forget that bit.

Excellent, they can give us that for Clarke then.

He’s most likely talking shite but I’m gonna believe him anyway

I’d love to see them keep this squad together. Get 4/5 in the summer for key positions and with a bit of luck with injuries next season there’s no reason we can’t have a right go at the top two

I wonder what the club reckon his ceiling is? I certainly don’t think even 20m is the top of his value given he’s still young, English and his stats last season were very good.

What’s promising is it sounds like he actually wants to stay and isn’t trying to force his way out
This has always been the case. I know there’s always the Rule of Delph but I read an article where he said he’s had no stability in his career. Even at Sunderland he was signed by Lee Johnson and told what the plan was. Within 30 mins of playing and less than a week he was gone. Then Neil came in and played him. Then Neil left. Said it’s no good for a player. Right now he has a chance to play at Sunderland under a manager who rates him every week for decent money in a decent team.

I don’t agree with this policy of buy young, sell for a profit.
What about buy young bring them on and get us promoted ? Clarke is a star and we should realise that and pay him enough to want to stay.
Same with Roberts, Stewart, Patterson, Ballard, Cirkin, ONien, Gooch etc.
Keep them together. If they are good enough and I think they are, they will get us promoted and their value will go up anyway.
Hang on to them.

I will ‘ave Brentford for breakfast and wash ‘em down with a warm cup of Burnley while I’m at it pal.

how about we do both,,like brentford..buy, sell and get promoted..
roberst also isnt young.

Saying that..I dont think we should sell any of the players we have..mpost are cats offs with one good season behind them...including clarke..and will be worth more woth two good seasons behind them
It’s ok saying that when your going so where to win things at this level it’s all about earning as much as you can
but clarke diod the move on quixckly for money thing before..it didnt work out..and in the end he had to slum it with SAFC in league one.
