Bid rejected for Clarke

If one or two Prem teams are prepared to double his wages he will go this window. So would anyone else in his position - even Sunderland fans such as Patto and Neil.
So, you are saying if a club offers Clarke double his wages but offers to buy him for £7m he'll go? I thought the first thing they would have do is offer us what we valued him at. How naive of me.

I keep on read comments on here saying there's nothing we can do if a PL wants to heavily increase the wages of our players.

Well, actually, yes there is.

As for clarke the quoted fees are pathetic so we just reject them and keep him with us for another year which will probably see his value increase further. Well, I hope that's what the club does.

If Mason Mount is apparently worth more than 55m, Clarke must be over 20. I'd have snapped Uniteds hand off for 55m BTW.

Why? I don’t understand that comparison. Mount has played in the latter stages of European and international tournaments. Clarke hasn’t got close to that level of football and there’s only a year or so between them.

If they're saying Mount is worth 60m+, Clarke is worth more than 20m. Based solely on footballing ability.

Then we need to put the information out that the price is £20m+. Unless WE are the ones who put the info out, and that would be a whole different kettle of fish…

Ian Harte was slightly coy with how he explained the situation before. But I’d not be surprised if both club and agent wanted it out to get the best deal for all parties.
