No, £80m won't allow Newcastle to achieve that in one fell swoop, but then literally nobody claimed it would...
Ashley has said he's going nowhere until Newcastle win something (even if that's just access to the CL), he knows that Benitez is the best man to achieve that, but you're on crack if you think anybody is expecting this to happen in 2017/18.
Of course Benitez wouldn't be at Newcastle if he wasn't being paid a wage he thinks he deserves, (just like fan favourite Jermaine Defoe wouldn't have joined Sunderland were it not for the wage he receives) and if a massive club come in for Rafa (which is highly unlikely) I don't doubt he'd jump at the chance. But nobody would blame him if Real Madrid lured him back
Thing is, he wants to work in England so, given that, which clubs that would want him, would he actually leave Newcastle for?
I've already said Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Spurs would aim higher than Rafa Benitez now.
Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Man Utd and Spurs aren't going to change their managers any time soon. Everton couldn't risk the fan backlash even if they were.
I also think there is now a fondness in Rafa for Newcastle, just as there will be for Defoe and Sunderland. A fondness that won't be the foundations of a decision, but may tip the balance.
Benitez "loves the toon" as much as Defoe is a "MLF".![]()
2018/19 then ? Your fans are stupid enough to come out with it mindNo, £80m won't allow Newcastle to achieve that in one fell swoop, but then literally nobody claimed it would...

Unfortunately our defence won't be one of those s#####ng themselvespremier league defences will shit themselves coming up against Gayle and Murphy next season no matter who is in charge of the scums
Only way Benitez is leaving is if he doesn't get the funds to strengthen the squad. Even then I'm not convinced West Ham would go back in for him, they're better off seeing who's available in the summer for nowt.
Sorry that pisses on your chips lads.![]()
I'm trying desperately to dislike you Fish, but you're talking a great deal of sense imho. No, £80m won't allow Newcastle to achieve that in one fell swoop, but then literally nobody claimed it would...

Was shite like"I have a great idea for a new TV show ...... let's have one about a boring plank of wood, from the 60's, married to a cheap slapper."![]()
They'll wait 20 years and do a Shearer one same story"I have a great idea for a new TV show ...... let's have one about a boring plank of wood, from the 60's, married to a cheap slapper."![]()

Best managa in tha werld manI've said lots of times I can't decide which would provide the best fun, when he leaves or when he stsys and his mediocre performance, in the Championship, with the vast money spent are replicated in the Premier League next season.
If of course he stays, oh imagine after he's been 7th highest paid manager, it doesn't work and he can blame Ashley. Time will tell
Are you trying to say Conte and Mourinho wouldn't consider the mighty newcastle?are you on drugs?Don't put words in my mouth ...... I've never said that.
What I will say, and stand by, is that Benitez won't be at Newcastle by the end of next season.
BTW, Ashley certainly doesn't believe Benitez is the best man to achieve CL ...... just the best option available, at the moment, for such a club.
Mourinho, Conte, etc would be the best men but that's beyond Newcastle.

He won't get anywhere near what he's hoping for but I for one could not give a rats ass if he stays (and I have it on good authority he is going).
He is way too cautious, and my Durham mag colleague says the football overall is functional not entertaining.
The PL is a tough one to stay in but as Burnley have proved, you don't have to spend a fortune to survive.

Oh, and f##k off mag![]()
