Benitez to Wistham .....

Why dont you go somewhere where people may give a shit what you think? What a sad fella coming on here fishing...have you not got something better to do with your time?

So, is this your thing? Try and take the piss, make yourself look a bit silly, then when you're pulled up on it fold your arms, stick your bottom lip out and demand people leave you alone?

yeah and teams traditionally struggle moving stadiums. We've also had more injuries than anyone except Sunderland this season, plus all the trouble at games and fuss around that can't have helped either
I hope Bilic stays at West Ham, he seems a nice bloke that has a genuine affection for the club. Doesn't just trot out football cliches in interviews, canny football at times too.

Much rather Bilic in the Premier League than someone like Schteve McClaren.

An excuse that wouldn't hold much water with any but the most fervent Benitez fan. £80m is a huge sum of money and should we spend that, Benitez really doesn't have an excuse. To be honest, I think it would have to be obviously meagre spending to see Benitez walk.

Your position seems to imply that Benitez is desperate to get out of Newcastle and will use any excuse to expedite that. I don't think that's true, we spent nothing in January, despite promises from Ashley that we would, and Benitez is still here and talking about future plans.

TBH, I really couldn't care less, I don't have a 'position' and aren't making excuses ...... I have nothing to prove, it's just my opinion.

If this thread was anywhere but on my forum I wouldn't ever comment.

Ashley has stated publicly that he wants Champions League/ Major Trophy and sees Benitez as the man to do it.

To achieve that £80m isn't a huge sum of money.

If I have any point about Benitez it's that he's a Spanish manager who's been at some huge internationally renowned clubs.

He's at Newcastle because they offered him a big salary, when he was out of work, and he didn't have to relocate ....... he's just a badge kissing mercenary like all the others.

A better offer and he'll go imo.

No, £80m won't allow Newcastle to achieve that in one fell swoop, but then literally nobody claimed it would...

Ashley has said he's going nowhere until Newcastle win something (even if that's just access to the CL), he knows that Benitez is the best man to achieve that, but you're on crack if you think anybody is expecting this to happen in 2017/18.

Of course Benitez wouldn't be at Newcastle if he wasn't being paid a wage he thinks he deserves, (just like fan favourite Jermaine Defoe wouldn't have joined Sunderland were it not for the wage he receives) and if a massive club come in for Rafa (which is highly unlikely) I don't doubt he'd jump at the chance. But nobody would blame him if Real Madrid lured him back

Thing is, he wants to work in England so, given that, which clubs that would want him, would he actually leave Newcastle for?

I've already said Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Spurs would aim higher than Rafa Benitez now.
Chelsea, Everton, Liverpool, Man Utd and Spurs aren't going to change their managers any time soon. Everton couldn't risk the fan backlash even if they were.

I also think there is now a fondness in Rafa for Newcastle, just as there will be for Defoe and Sunderland. A fondness that won't be the foundations of a decision, but may tip the balance.

The mags actually believe he 'loves the toon man'
Benitez "loves the toon" as much as Defoe is a "MLF".

80m may get you to mid table

would get you nowhere remotely near winning things or the Champions League

I know. It was Reiver suggesting that was a concern.

fwiw I think we'll spend c£60m + maybe a bit more if we recoup a lot from player sales.

We will likely need a CB, a striker and a pivotal number 10. Three of the traditionally more expensive positions.

I still think Mbemba, Mitrovic, Perez have sufficient potential to be in the squad, and players like Lascelles and Dummett, will be committed if limited squad members.

3 players (CB, #10, CF) at c£15-20m for a total of £45m

3 squad players at c£5m for a total of £15m

Couple of loan players (from top clubs like; Loftus-Cheek/Abraham/Rashford)

Then another couple of signings should we need them in January?

It got them relegated last season

Yous won't get much for most of your shite saying that Real Madrid will probably make a £100m offer for Diame knowing yous

I hope he stays - he is only "successful" in the PL when he has millions and millions to spend. When he realises that Ashely expects him to keep more or less the same squad in the summer he'll probably be off, or will have them bottom 6 if he does stay. All these mags who think they'll be top half/top 6 are forgetting who the man who holds the purse strings is

The same could be said of every manager who has won the Premier League. No one has won anything without having spent some significant dollar.

Then on the flip side you have Villa spending obscene amounts of money and they are midtable in division 2.

Well, we'll flog de Jong, Saivet, get the Thauvin money in, should be about >£15m there.

Plus we'll sell Daryl Murphy to you lot for £10m ;)
