If he had been given a full season he may have been an interesting appointment, but in the middle of a scrap I think he's going to struggle.

He is a fashionable appointment, but not one that will get them riled, and he gets too emotional when wound up by other gaffers, over to you Sam, and bring the fuck off sized wooden spoon.

If he plays two defensive midfielders surely that would mean one of Shelvey, Sissoko and Wijnaldum would have to be dropped?

Probably iirc, he likes 6 defensive minded players and 4 attacking ones so will probably drop Sissoko.

Good for you, I applaud you but all people are different and most, whatever level they are at, will respond to some encouraging words from their leader. You've picked an isolated incident to back up your point when you asked a general question and I answered it.
My reply was as general as my question. Highlight the isolated incident if you will. We all respond to encouragement, but this should be an addition not replacement for the effort you put in. Encouragement is an enhancement, personal pride is a constant.

Not sure where Shelvey would fit into that. He's not great at tracking back, his strength is getting the ball forward quickly. He could become quite pedestrian. If you're right I predict a few draws.

He will need the ability to get them up for a fight, is that one of his attributes?

He flaps like a lass, and passes it onto his teams, if Leicester spank them they iz fucked.
He's not the coolest of customers like.

Look at the players he had at said club's you talk about. Newcastle don't have them sort of player of the infrastructure also he's never been in this situation (relegation battle) before and I'm not sure he has time to change his outlook to fit in with Newcastle's plight.
He's in unchartered waters here. TBF he's had squads of egos with massive ability which may have been an issue. He's now got a squad of average players at a low ebb who might see him, worryingly, as a manager with a reputation which may lift them morale wise, but the lack of ability and application they have shown thus far? Monday at Leicester will start to answer a few of these questions maybe.

Go ask Inter / Napoli / Madrid fans if they think he was a success

I hope to god that happens then means Wijinaldum will be on the wing and Shelvey can't dictate play and play them raking balls from deep... I hope Rafa agrees with your plan I really do

He probably won't trust Shelvey to play as a CDM as its probably one of the reasons they're so so crap at the back?

They're not best friends like

'Here was a trendy foreign manager with all his smart ideas getting beat by some oik from the Midlands.

'Benitez wouldn't talk to me at all and that just made it all the better when we won.'

'I'm not looking to do him any favours. He's got personal with it for many, many years now - that's why I don't like him and the feeling is probably mutual.

'I don't get personal with him. I get under his skin, yes, but that's all part of the game.'

Probably play him as a CM ahead of two CDMs similar to Lampard.
