Ok looks like he is going to the dark side, but what's his style how does he like to set his teams up?

Newcastle cant change playing staff, so he has the same players that have blown hot and cold this season, Newcastle have had the odd lucky win and been damn right poor in other games.

So with the players he will have how will he set them up? Will he try to shore up the defence, but how? Injuries and Steven Taylor at the back doesn't look good on that front, go attacking, fans will love that but aren't they wasteful going forward and don't score?

To be honest I really don't know how he sets his teams up, a new manger bounce will help and not having Steve Mcclaren there will also help, but these aren't Rafa's players, going to be really interesting to see how it all plays out if he takes the job.

Nothing has changed for us, Newcastle and Norwich were a threat to us staying up and they still are, its in our hands and we have to do it in our own right, maybe just maybe Newcastle changing manager will help us to not be complacent, as I kept hearing how it was ok, Steve is taking them down.

Wonder how the Norwich fans feel about it all?

He will organise them. Something McLaren failed with massively in his 28 games.
Whether that makes them better defensively or more of a threat up front I don't know , but they won't be a total pushover anymore

Didn't he get Liverpool to adopt zonal marking when defending set pieces?

Everyone kicked up a fuss every time they conceded a goal but the stats were they were the best in the league?

Steven Taylor doesn't even know where the f***ing goalposts are man. Can you imagine him trying to mark a specific zone.

Real Madrid and Barcelona (N) is a similar level tbh.

Some of your lot believe that to be true.

"The Bemitez style is cofrontational. He can seem tactless. He always knows best. He has particular disdain for players who believe they have the right to play because of reputation and experience... He is someone who manages with a mixture of excessive passion and alaytical curiosity"

From some article in 2012 in the independent

He was always criticised for playing narrow with Liverpool. Always through the middle with little use of wingers iirc.

Newcastle United is delighted to announce the appointment of Rafa Benitez as the club’s new manager.

Benitez joins United on an initial three-year deal.

He will improve them. They will pick up more points than they would have. We still have the advantage of knowing that as long as we pick up at least the same amount of points as them and Norwich, we are safe. I still make us slight favourites for that reason, but it's going to be squeaky bum time just as it was before Benitez came in. It will be decided by a couple of points, maybe even goal difference.

Plays 2 deep Central Midfielders in front of a back four with the intention of not conceding. Not in keeping with the entertainers reputation.

The first Newcastle Manager in decades not to mention us or 56,000 screaming Geordies in his first interview.
