Abuse of our club, city and supporters has been going on for decades by the various local media outlets.
One thing that always boils my piss is that they are always announcing when you can next listen to when the b&w fuckers are playing during our games, often wondered do they announce when our next games are during their commentaries?
They have always tried to look down at us and take the piss so they can have a chuckle amongst themselves.

Here is the harsh reality.

Newcastle is a bigger deal than we are.

you may not like this fact but using most metrics it is just true.

Travel, culture, infrastructure, investment - for starters and it appears, local radio.
While I agree with the basic truth in your comments this should not allow local media to be anything other than impartial in its coverage of the area and its sport. Sunderland is the 2nd most populated city in the area and contains the oldest of the big footballing clubs in the area which still draws a substantial support no matter how far it has fallen. This should demand respect not ridicule but of course in a world where working people think "as long as my pile of shit is bigger than your pile shit then I'm better than you" then our area will continue to suffer. Add to this the black hole for investment Blair created in the 80's/90's and you can see why Sunderlands development has fallen so far behind. I used to despise Sunderland City Council for its lack fore thought, cheapness and ability to let any architect dump whatever piece of shit they could think of on us. However I now realise that it's being the lack of investment as well as poor management that has brought our city to where it is today. Personally always hope for a better day in all aspects of my life so with new development on the up in the city centre let's hope its the start of the long over due revamping of our city which will breath new life and investment into the old gal. HTL FTM.

That was a reasoned appropriate response and I agree with you.

I wish we could get more discussions like this.

Have a cracking weekend mate. 👍

How does it work in other regions where there is one Premier League or Championship club and one lower league club?

Other examples I am thinking of…
- Southampton and Portsmouth on BBC Radio Solent
- Stoke and Port Vale on BBC Radio Stoke
- Bristol City and Bristol Rovers on BBC Radio Bristol?

All similar situations with one club in Prem/Champ and one a couple of leagues below. Probably others too.

If they all have the same FM/DAB policy then maybe it’s a national BBC policy rather than a regional one. Doesn’t make it less frustrating I know but at least it would be consistent.

It’s like when you watch Look North. They have a studio in Newcastle and a studio in Middlesbrough. Rarely do their reporters venture to Sunderland or it’s environs.

BBC Newcastle is a very lazy, biased local organisation whose overall lack of interest and respect for Wearside is blatantly reflected in its Sunderland area output.

We’ve got the Mag media in the written press and these incompetents on local BBC TV. The radio station is little better, their news output now spoilt by random records that just cause people to switch off. Even our local footy commentator, NB, is known for popping at our fans instead of analysing SAFC’s situation and asking pertinent questions on our behalf. It’s just a job. How many Sunderland games would he attend if he didn’t cover us to get his wages?

And they wonder why so many are turning away from the ultra woke left wing BBC in general!

We are in the Third Division for christ sake and not looking a good bet for promotion.
At the moment I could not give a toss about what coverage or not we get.
If we get back into the top flight we will be news again.
End of.
This is the type of attitude that helps their policies win
Soon they’ll be no coverage as mags at bbc mag have decided there’s not enough demand
I’m going to write to ofcom about this as it has nothing to do with where the clubs are it’s the size of the fan base they cover

So let them get away with it ?There is no alternative amd some folk like to listen to he commentary of the match and not everybody has a dab radio or a smart tv..the dab is a inferior service and why should we just put up with it?

If they lose loads of listeners, they'll have to have a rethink.
