Agreed comrade but in the eyes of the media it isn't the case sadly.

I can't fathom this sort of attitude.
You actually think people shouldn't be upset that what is supposed to be a neutral news source constantly gets its little digs in at Sunderland over and over again like little bairns? How our club and our city is portrayed in the media can have far reaching consequences, and they've harmed our reputation for too f*cking long now without consequence. As long as people from Sunderland don't care, or worse still mock those who do, nothing will ever change.
The most memorable digs over the years -
Craig Gordon. Record UK transfer fee for a keeper in the UK. Mentioned as a reluctant afterthough despite it being the only big NE news story that weekend.
Our original footbridge proposal - turned down, by John Hall, IIRC, as unnecessary, then later revived as a plan for a bridge over the Tyne which became the 'blinking eye'. When we revived our plans a few years later, the local news went out on the streets of Newcastle to ask people what _they_ thought (why, ffs?) with the narrative that we were 'typical Mackems, copying off them'.
They did an article on Joseph Swan. They managed to go into quite some detail, managing to _not once_ mention the fact that he was a Sunderland lad, born in Pallion. They were eager to mention he lived in Gateshead and presented his invention in Newcastle, though...
That's not acceptable from any news outlet, let alone one that is required under its licence conditions to be impartial. It's bitter and spiteful.
Deary me.

He's always having a go at our fans. The jury's out on whether he even supports us at all.
You're right mate, if we complain we're precious. If the mags complained under similar circumstances then it's justified.
