BBC look north

A bit of topic. I noticed during lockdown they had live reports from pubs and hairdressers in and around north tyneside but never once from Sunderland i mean its only the area with the largest population.
Happens all the time. The local BBC cherry pick Newcastle all the time for national coverage.
The BBC TV studio in Leeds broadcasts its verson of Look North for Yorkshire & the North Midlands and provides the local TV news & sport for the city of York & the surrounding area, The Newcastle studio therefore needs to be asked how often does it normally provided reviews and coverage of York football club's games when that job clearly falls within the remit of York's local Look North programme which is broadcast from Leeds .

Even if the Newcastle studio thought that some York based viewers might fall within its broadcast area they are likely to be very few in number. To give the York story precident over the news about SAFC that was clearly of interest to a significantly larger part of the BBC Newcastle's audience living in its designated transmission area was obviously quite deliberate and intended as an insult.

Although folk should complain to the BBC themselves efforts should be made to encourage SAFC itself to bring some pressure to bear. Playing down SAFC in its broadcasts undermines SAFC's abiliy to draw in new fans from the region & SAFC is a business that depends upon paying customers. The people who are doing this at BBC Newcastle may think that its a bit of fun but they are effectively operating a biase against SAFC that undermines the Clubs business. Worse still they are disaffecting a very large section of the BBC Newcastle's regional audience who will be inclined to write off all of the BBC's output rather than just 5 minutes of the local sports news.

If I were SAFC I would certainly consider giving the BBC less favourable access to the team and the activities of the Club than it gives to other meadia outlets. After all the BBC doesn't seem to be that interested in SAFC anyway and the Clubs thousands of fans will quickly find alternative sources for news about the team.
I think this is a good idea. Given the pathetic, biased coverage that the city of Sunderland and SAFC receive it would be no hardship and would send a message out to the powers that be be in London how pathetically biased BBC Newcastle is.

BBC Newcastle TV is the TV version of the Chronicle. Shameful.

The mention of York City's promotion before ours must have been hilarious in their heads but in reality it was downright embarrassing for a so called professional local news outlet
aye. pathetic.
