Away Fans at SOL Update

Is it just me, or surely the answer is to put all the away fans in a lower block?
Obviously youd end up having to move some season ticket holders around, but its much harder to throw things up a tier than chuck them down.

Taking peoples coins off them at the turnstyles is going to cause mayhem
Plenty of missiles at Bolton away last season all at lower level.

No it isn't. It's becoming less relevant as time rolls on.

Don't get me wrong, before being able to tap everything etc, I relied on cash massively when we did bucket collections.
Now you won't get a sniff of what you used to collect because 99% of people just use card or tap to pay.

Someone in SAFC must have been smoking something else if they think this is a viable plan.

Let me summarise... We going to try and search potentially thousands of pissed-up away fans so well that we'll find all their spare change; we'll then ask said pissed-up fans to give up their money and, at the same time, put their vapes in the bin.

...and whoever is in charge at SAFC who has come up with this, seems to think that's not going to cause massive issues. I can imagine seats being thrown down instead, now we got very angry away fans.
Not if the gaps in the net are too small they won't.
And when someone chucks a flare that gets caught in the netting. What happens then? Fire and melted net dripping onto fans. A net won't work.

Cash?
We are talking coins.
Who seriously goes out with coins in their pocket? You might gather some on your way if you pay with notes, but who would want it?
Just pay with your card or phone.
But don’t throw your phone at other supporters, obvs 😂

Why do people say there will be hell on outside if they go to the SE corner? They were in the south stand from the very beginning and the stewards and police seemed to manage ok. I can't remember any reports of widespread trouble.
They were only moved because Ellis Short thought it looked bad on TV when the block was half empty if I recall.
Agree about the first part mate. Away fans were moved cos Short seen where our fans were place at St. James and he wasn't imoressed so decided to do the same.

Purely my opinion, but things started to go wrong in league 1. The club wrongly decided to cash in on away fans and give stupid allocations to clubs (I think Luton were given something like 6,000).

This then created a ‘big day out’ style atmosphere and the day trippers started to act up. Mix this with a lack of security in the north stand, and it was a recipe for disaster.

The catalyst for this seasons’ problems was again the fault of the club. We all knew Coventrys support was full of wankers, but not only did they give them 1,000 tickets but then give them another 500 which went straight to general sale.
This. Coventry should have been given 500 tickets after their behaviour previously. It’s far easier for security to manage smaller numbers for moronic behaviour.

Club can't win on this though, what couls have been done years ago? You've got posters like @Hmmmmmm returns stating that they have to be moved and posters like yourself wanting them to stay up.

Unfortunately nets won't catch everything that's thrown and Perspex screens simply won't happen. The club aren't in a good position really, but I do understand they haven't helped themselves.

There's no clear and obvious fix that works for everyone.
I’d also argue that we won’t be giving away better seats. Maybe for them making a better atmosphere we are but the views from the concourse are arguably the best in the ground. Also, like I posted in other comments - our players should benefit from a better atmosphere and there will be games the opposition fans get on their own players backs. We’ve all seen it with our own club at times.

The club just need to do it well, communicate clearly and in plenty of time.

If away fans are to be put in the SE corner then I think people currently in the South Stand will Be absolutely buzzing, the ground will become incredible again.

When I was at Cheltenham Festival this year, the charity collectors had the machines for you to tap to donate £2.

I passed a bloody busker at Seaham food festival and she was taking card payments

Yep. That's the way it's going. Used to make a mint doing charity collections, but now I'd be less inclined to do it unless I had a tap to donate machine too

Well I certainly didn't throw anything. But I know who were the main culprits.

Says on the Echo it was agreed with the EFL. And that the club don't think netting will solve the issue 'at this stage'.
Have they banned bottles of piss?
They'll still serve them in the bar.
