Away Fans at SOL Update

Yep and could of been done months/years ago but the club kicked it down the road until theyve come to a point where the solution is to punish our own fans and give away fans better seats in our own ground.
Club can't win on this though, what couls have been done years ago? You've got posters like @Hmmmmmm returns stating that they have to be moved and posters like yourself wanting them to stay up.

Unfortunately nets won't catch everything that's thrown and Perspex screens simply won't happen. The club aren't in a good position really, but I do understand they haven't helped themselves.

There's no clear and obvious fix that works for everyone.

Nets and screens are tried and tested throughout Europe and could of been sorted years ago. You saying they won’t be approved doesn’t mean they won’t be. Keeping them up there and protecting fans below works for everyone as no one will be inconvenienced and pissed off by them moving.

Netting I agree could be used, genuinely don't think a screen would be allowed. But nets, absolutely. Probably doesn't stop everything coming down there and even moving them doesn't stop coins being chucked sideways.

There is no perfect answer like

Reduce the away allocation to a thousand tops, only sell the back 10-15 rows and increase stewards and cctv in the North Upper.

In reality, you can't just restrict numbers to 1,000 for every team. For the ones with previous for trouble aye
Of course we can restrict the max allocation, and we can certainly only sell the rows we want to I. E. The back 10-15 so it can be more easily policed.

You can't just restrict the number to whatever you want, it doesn't work like that. This is why the club won't please everybody, because people want pie in the sky nonsense.

How doesn't it work like that? On the grounds of fan safety and ease of policing it can work like that.

I mean if you want to quote me the EFL rule that says we can't then I'll concede to you.

EFL rule below;

Facilities for visiting supporters

35.3.1 Each Club must make provision for at least 2,000 visiting supporters at every home match or such number as represents 10% of the Club’s certified capacity, if less than 2,000. The League may, on the prior written application of a Club, suspend this Regulation or reduce the figure either for a particular League Match or for a period of time.

You'd get away with it for high risk or previous trouble games but that would be it.

Likes of Millwall, Wigan and Rotherham don't bring much more than 1k as an example. Fans safety vs a few more quid?
You know what they are going to put first, there's plenty of teams that will bring a big following, missing out on quite a bit of money. Plus opposing teams will just reduce our allocations

So on the last bit we could ask for a lower allocation citing bad away fan behaviour is endangering fan safety in the lower tier.

No just until the end of this season as they'll be moving them to the SW corner from next season it seems.
I think they will try to move them earlier.

We have 8-10k empty seats every home game, the EFL won't be arsed, its down ti the club to provide 2k tickets and its a joke if we can't.

The plan is clearly to move them. I'd keep an eye out for letters arriving next week to those in the family zone.

Can't see how they can restrict people carrying coins...they'd have to inform all ticket purchasers well in advance

I remember being at Atalanta v Fiorentina in the early 90's and people had bags of nuts and bolts because they went through the netting
