Australia v England, 2nd Test, 4th December 0400

Perplexing they think Brook is captain material. Bloke has done absolutely nowt to warrant that accolade tbh. Be exactly the same as the present:

"What's the plan for today skipper?"

"just try and twat every ball to the fence like I do"

"Even the ones just outside off stump?"

"Especially the ones just outside off stump"
I think this is the point though isn't it. He fits the current model. Literally nobody is thinking maybe.....

They've been help bent on this team and this approach for God knows how many years aiming at this and it is unraveling big style. Not just getting beaten but the pillows and the golf course and the we don't do practice matches and all the other stuff.

I want 'Durham' players to do well. Joe Root is a very admirable bloke. The rest of them, I do not like.

"It's our way or no way"

Followed by...

"The reason we lost is because other people didn't believe in our way enough"

You can bludgeon your way to a T20 WC or series win, or even an ODI series or WC win, but you're never gonna win a five test series in someone else's back yard with those tactics when it's never even happened in your own with favourable conditions.

There has been no jeopardy. There still isn't. They are still getting picked. There is, by design, no competition for places. This is one of the defining features of this era.

They've got central contracts. The anomaly is if they didn't they could earn more elsewhere in franchise cricket. Drop them and they'll get a strop on and nash off.

They're very quickly becoming an unlikeable bunch of arrogant tossers.
Agreed. Even Stokes these days tends to get on my nerves tbh.

I absolutely adore Joe Root. I feel sorry for him in many ways. He started his Test career playing with the likes of Cook and Pietersen but has spent the majority of it as a one man band playing with shite like Crawley and Pope. He has deserved to play in better teams than he has done. Even he looked fed up with the rest of his teammates today.

Brook is the one who annoys me the most as he actually has the talent to be a brilliant player but he’s going to waste his career through stupidity and arrogance.
When you break it down, other than beating NZ at home in 2022 and Pakistan away later that year, Bazball has achieved very little in terms of meaningful results.
New Zealand were waning and let’s be honest Pakistan were dog shit. In the end they figured out all they had to do was produce turning wickets to see England off as they did in 2024.

The only big Test series these days are against India and Australia and we’re nought from 3 on that front and heading for nought from 4.

I have a plan. Appoint Michael Vaughan as CEO and Ian Botham as selector. Phil Tufnell as head coach and Matt Prior as batting coach.
Let's see if these has beens can make England better seeing as they seem to think it's so easy

OR is it easier to criticise than actually achieve?

Anyway. Fuck cricket and fuck all sport. Twats

Vaughan made a good point earlier - there is no pressure on any of the top 7 right now (or even in the last few years). There is some competition in the bowling department, but it feels like once you are in the team it's very hard to get out of it.
