Australia v England, 2nd Test, 4th December 0400


Hazelwood and Cummings to come back too, at least i can spend my few days off over xmas not bothering getting up as we will be 3-0 down by then

Well it’s been pretty naff for a long time now hasn’t it? We must’ve gone through 50+ players, loads of different tactics and game plans, head coaches & selectors.

It’s a bit more exciting these days but in a results based business, the simple facts are we don’t get results against the big cricket playing nations.

You think back over the recent years and the best moments we’ve had in test cricket have been the odd century in series we didn’t win, Stokes amazing innings for a series we drew and skittling the opposition and still not capitalising on it.

Over a sustained period of time we’ve been a team of moments, not a team that wins.

Players already look lethargic.

It’s a big ask on some of the bowlers.

Archer has barely played test cricket for 4 or so years.
Stokes is flogging himself and has had injury problems for a while.
Carse isn’t good enough.
Atkinson I also have doubts about.
Jacks doesn’t look up to it and is a part timer at best.

That said, who else is there? Stone? Wood if fit? Robinson?
 
Stokes has to be able to see what we’re doing wrong and correct it mid-game.

It’s all well and good having mind games and a positive outlook, but he needs to manage this.

Probably going to get worse. Cricket is a niche sport in England outside of the ashes. It's barely played by kids outside of private schools and doesn't have the cultural cut through.

Here in Australia you see kids from all backgrounds regularly playing it in and out of school, there's plenty of it on free to air TV, and the BBL actually has organic interest opposed to the pathetic Hundred
 
Potts would have been a decent pick on this pitch mind....though they'd have probably asked him to bowl short...

Yeah I agree, and given how much money there is in franchise cricket compared with country cricket, you can see why players try to make themselves attractive as a T20 player.
