Australia 🇦🇺 v England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 4th Test - Sydney

I like Robinson but I’ve been a bit underwhelmed by him since that first test. His returning spells are like something a batting all rounder would come in and bowl.

Our reluctance to pick our best players at times just baffles me. If Broad and Anderson are fit then they play.

Overall I totally agree but I thought Anderson looked below his best 2nd innings in Sydney

If I were Burns, I'd tell them to shove it. Tried to make him the scapegoat after Adelaide then come crawling back because they got it wrong? Naff off

I want Burns in the side, but would take the total opposite view, be proud and a honor to play for my country would go out and give everything to try and prove them wrong.

He is better player than Hameed and should always be in before him imo.

But that would make me more determined to be a success and score runs.

Maybe it’s just me but would never tell my country to naff off

Reported potentially 5 changes.

Stokes to play as specialist bat

Burns for Hameed
Woakes and Robinson for Anderson and Leach
Billings for Buttler at 7
Bairstow a serious doubt, to be replaced by Pope if not available

So yet again we go with Woakes and no spinner :lol:
Wait....so we'd go back to a bloke we dropped (can just about understand),
bring in a bowler whos looked unthreatening,
bring in another bowler whos nursing a shoulder injury
Dropping our most economical bowler and our spinner who looks like he's finally found some form in the process and who was dropped from the last day nighter that offered turn.
Oh and playing stokes with an injured side.....
What could go wrong....will get at least 2 days play in

Nah, fuck em. They tried making him the scapegoat. I'd tell them to go fuck themselves

Well he's hardly scored many it's not difficult to understand why he's second when malan stokes haven't played in a lot of them
Scored more than Hameed and Crawley.

Yet was made the scapegoat for poor preparation and performances in the first two Tests.

Not a difficult concept to grasp, Chops.

Seems we learned nothing from Adelaide, again the obsession with seamers because well get an hour under lights per day, to hell with the 5 hours before that. It's crazy.

Bringing Burns back is crazy, has he batted himself back into nick in the nets? I don't know what they expect from him, a 50 and a 100 and he keeps his place, otherwise he's out again next test? I kind of feel sorry for Lawrence not getting a game but then if he was picked I'd feel sorry for him for having to come in with one innings 6 weeks ago since the end of the season.

No one thinks Burns is a great option, but is there a better option to open? There’s only Hameed for me (I don’t believe in moving Malan and Root up).

Not sure our spinner has found form or looked like finding form, got a couple of wickets when they took risks to declare, apart from that seen nothing from him tbh

Is bringing back Burns any more crazy than sticking with Hameed who looks totally out of his depth?

@NorthCountryBoy and VOP, I know what you're saying and I agree, I think Burns would be better than Hameed. But realistically neither will start the next series so what does it do to Burns to tell him he's playing in the next having had no opportunity to get back in form then either a) he does nothing and is dropped again or b) he gets a decent score and we're back to 'should we give him one more chance?'. Maybe I'm too soft but I think that sends the wrong message out to the squad and individual players when you're flip flopping them in and out of the side.

Yeah I can see your point it’s a difficult one, really should not have dropped Burns before Hameed in the first place imo.
