Attendance Thread - Norwich City

I simply can’t see why the club can’t have one cash turnstile open maybe in the North Stand only to solve this issue.
Even if only 100 people use it surely the cost of the operator plus cashing it in at the bank would be more than covered.

Most likely not. Even that amount of cash needs secure collection, which is fixed rate and very expensive.

How do clubs in lower divisions cope with cash? The club seem to say its not economical to open the ticket office full time (which they have done recently) yet clubs in the same and lower divisions do it. The club say its uneconomical to open the club shop, yet clubs in this division and lower leagues do. I dont believe all of these clubs do this for charity, it just stinks of penny pinching

As a percentage, it gets lower as the amount of cash increases. The problem for SAFC is the relatively low value in relation to the cost. It's also possible that some still get staff to do it (which would make their insurers very nervous)
or an employee could just take it to a bank

Incredibly bad practice, frowned on by insurers, and potentially a breach of duty of care to employees. The club would certainly be liable if anything happened.

I dont actually care tbh, it should be an option, at one gate in all stands, am I correct in thinking at the moment any issues at the turnstile are just redirected back to the ticket office as there are no staff at any turnstile to deal with it?

Well if you are telling everyone no one is taking up the cash option it shouldnt be that much money to take to the bank then. Limited risk surely.

Thousands of businesses can do this why not SAFC. Customer care. How many supporters and business will we miss out on in the long term because of this mad system we have. Short sighted penny punching when even on the clubs (now out dated) figures would easaily pay for itself.

In lower leagues where crowds can be in the hundreds or low thousands, I suspect that “the ticket office” is often a multi tasking office manager, PA, telephone call taker, and probably called Margaret or Elsie.
Perhaps when we get the shop and office in one location then we can have this flexibility of staff that can sell you a shirt or a ticket in person, in a cost effective way.
It’s planned, and now having the two open separately is going to cost the club money, it might happen sooner rather than later 👍🏻

Well thats bollocks - I have just searched 1 club, Coventry since they have a relatively big stadium, and lo and behold. They may be the only club in the league doing it, but I will retire researching with a 100% success rate

Coventry City play home matches at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Ticket Prices and Match Categories for home league games in the 2022/23 season can be seen below.

Tickets are available to buy at and the Ticket Office at the Coventry Building Society Arena, as well as Cash Turnstiles on matchdays.

The Sky Blues use match categories for the Sky Bet Championship campaign, with matches again categorised as either A, B or C.
But they do t play any home games.😇

How is it not costing the likes of Shef Wed, Ipswich, Middlesbrough, etc, etc.?

This the clubs doing? Asking Tickermaster to block access?
We don’t know. Could be, but then again it could be TM upgrading, or increasing their security to close off access to their systems.

Not sure if any other clubs who use TM can still be accessed by the API or not. Perhaps that’s a test. But really, not sure it is worth it. Bob is going to count them all manually anyway, so we’re sorted. 😜

Is club shop open today anyone?.

It is.
Our ticket office is now open everyday, at the same costs as those clubs.
I’m just answering the question of how lower league clubs can offer a service, on a smaller scale.
