All valid points but their openers have been in the field for hours and will be mentally tired and fed up.

If we shove them in tonight, they have to focus now, not feel refreshed after a night's sleep.

I agree mate, im one for being attacking when in situations like this. Just looking at it from another angle. If we are going to bat the day out id tel the team the plan to declare after 1 over tomorrow.

Finding this abit dull to be honest, was hoping Ashes would be more of a contest. Obviously Australia are having a poor game but I clearly gave them far too much credit.

All that said I don't think chasing 500 is going to have any different effect psychologically to chasing 550 so may as well get on with it.

I think he struggles with the new ball (at this stage of his career) as you see once the ball gets older and he's 'in' he's absolutely fantastic
he is the future England opener for many years to come though 8-)

Agreed.

It honestly feels a bit like a series against NZ, we give the opposition some chances, they aren't good enough to take them and we just ultimately overwhelm them.

This Aussie team is the f***ing pits.

We've had plenty of close Ashes recently and been on the wrong end of a few one-sided ones in recent memory. It's great to be on the right end of an annihilation at the moment.

I hope we stay out there for now. Let Root have a go at the double ton, then put them in before lunch tomorrow.
