Anthony Patterson

He's finished 6th, 16th, 4th and 3rd in his championship seasons. He's clearly one of the better keepers at that level and you can't measure certain things like temprament/handling pressure and decision making with a stat and stats give no more than an idea, they should never be used (and never will) to make an overall assement on a footballer.

Yet you are seriously trying to use a club's finishing position, especially one in which he played a grand total of 16 games in, to do exactly that?

He was excellent in the playoff final, which clouds people's opinion as it's the last game he played for us which had a massive reward so there's (understandably) a heavy amount of recent bias.

I've said this continually on here regarding Patterson, even when he was starting for us, but he was 15th for goals prevented last season of regular starting GK's, 3rd in 2023/2024 (excellent) and 16th in 2022/2023, so an average of 11th best during his 3 full Championship seasons.

That's before you talk about the other aspects such as his distribution, inability to collect a cross/high ball and being continually rooted to his line.

There's a reason GK was one of the first positions the club went all out to improve over the summer, and why this talk of him being linked with PL teams when we were in the Championship, was total rubbish.

He's a bang average, middle of the road Championship GK. Always has been, always will be. There's no shame in that by the way, but he's no more than that and no less.

I think youre underselling him. I think hes a top 6 championship goalkeeper.

That goal summed up Patto and is why in my opinion, he'll never be a premier league keeper who plays regularly (and if he is the team he'll play for will go down)

He can make big saves in big moment's but always has one them in him

But I like many other will say this, he is one biggest reasons we are a premier league club again

I suspect he may end up being a keeper who when he retires has 6 plus promotions on his CV but will end with at very best 20 premier league games under his belt

Poor command of his area in a VERY physical box especially in the prem, as well as inconsistent. I'm so happy we realized we had to improve upon him...goals like he let in today would have us going down this year. You need a top keeper in order to keep you in games in the prem.

The clanger made no odds on the outcome of the result.Millwall were shit all the second half and Hull should easily of had a couple more.

Millwall never looked like scoring regardless so made no difference
They completely bottled it like, they got the hard game over with getting a 0-0 away but seriously didn’t turn up last night. They were terrible and hull deserved it. Some going by them, sorta went under the radar they nearly went down the season before now one game away from the premier league. Of the three left they’d arguably be the weakest coming up so Haway hull.

Thats a very decent career for a lad who was sent on loan when we had shit keepers in league one

Christ 🤣

Take the local lad stuff out of it and he's a decent keeper at top end championship level. His distribution and ability to defend his box at corners and crosses is what'll stop him getting to the top of the game. If we can get £10m i'd snap their hands off, whoever wants him.

Absolute bollox that yes he should have saved the second but what about the excellent save not long before it . Hes a huge part of where we are now aswel .
Really like Patto questions the club has to ask it’s self is Matt Young going to develop to the highest level? Can Patto make the jump next season? Do you sell Patto as quite a few clubs will be in the que.
