Press conference only happens if he signs a new contract. If it’s cancelled then he’s gone really. Be very surprised if they threw Dodds/proctor to the wolves. Would be totally unfair.

He’s going to sing any new signings praises. He’s a club employee. He gains nothing from saying “didn’t want him” (if he didn’t want him).

What we can say, however, is that it’s complete bullshit that the manager gets the final say on signings now. We know that’s not true. If it was true, who the fuck signed Matete Hume and Defoe? Who sold Flanagan and (D) Hume? Michael Dodds?
 
Either way, realistically we are going to find out within an hour whether he stays or goes. You'd have to presume if the presser doesn't go ahead it's because he is leaving and we will have an official statement from the club saying that he is in talks with Stoke. If he turns up to the presser, I can't see anyway that he leaves us to go to Stoke as the line of questioning he will receive will have absolutely nothing to do with the game and everything to do with the speculation.

Im not saying we can stop him but he doesn’t have to speak to them if he doesn’t want to. If he wants to, I think his position here is difficult.

I’ve mentioned a few of the logical reasons why he would want to speak to Stoke (contract, geography, control) but football is not a game of logic in the eyes of supporters. As far as supporters here are concerned (quite rightly), contracted Sunderland managers shouldn’t be discussing terms with Stoke and then sauntering back into the dug out

not necessarily. they've got a game tomorrow, something going on with neil, etc. They're not on here 24/7 posting non stop. an hour or two isn't a long time to quash a story
