Possibly our best target man since Quinny ffs. Do people actually not notice how much he holds up the ball and wins in the air for us? It's nice to have a route-one not come straight back for a change.

People will be wanting Kevin Kyle back again soon. Clueless.

The lad is over 6ft and he was outjumped every time, he hardly made any movement off the ball and his head went down all too easily. If we're playing one up front at least have someone who can battle for it.
Exactly, don't think targetman is his best role. Mind you I think SNQ in his pomp would've had his job cut out today...[DOUBLEPOST=1381005780][/DOUBLEPOST]

It came back almost every time today, and that's not really meant as a criticism of him...

Some fans only judge a player on goals alone and fail to notice anything else they do.

His all round play is very good and he's been really unlucky not have scored a few goals.

I'm not convinced by him but can't fault him today - had a pretty much impossible task against two big units at the back for Man Utd. I wish he'd use his physique more at times but his biggest problem is that he lacks intelligence IMO - doesn't know what runs to make, rarely anticipates and gets in goalscoring positions. If he scores more than 6 goals this season in the league I'll be surprised.

The issue is people think just because he's a target man and taller than 6 ft then he must be able to jump as high as Niall Quinn. Stop playing high balls to him and judge him then, some of our fans can't see this for some reason.

When ? He either fell over or mistimed his jump. I really had high hopes for the lad but he's just not up to it.

My only criticism about Altidore, well it isn't really a criticism more of an opinion, I think he'd more effective if he maybe lost a bit of muscle mass and became a bit leaner, similar to Richards at Man City, where he bulked up to play CB and then the new manager came in and saw him more as a RB.
Kind of funny because I could swear Jozy picked up more muscle mass or more fat...I just couldn't understand why he's gotten bigger or was it just me who had noticed it....Looks like someone told him to hit the Gym hard by lifting weights because EPL will be a more physical league so he should bulk up, but it a;; this muscle mass doesnt look right for a footballer.

Many people would say things like " he doesnt look like a footballer" on appearance, and sometimes, I must admit his large shoulder is kind of weird for a footballer.

On the other hand, he should make sure of these massive shoulder much more...these could be assets...he could try to bully himself into the box and chase balls more aggressively by throwing people around...Does not do this much in my opinion...

Altidore is a good player, would help if he got service And had some support, as soon as we get a decent manager he will take off, not far from it under Di Canio

Fuck me alot of criticism for a guy who gave Vidic a pretty hard time today I thought. Also difficult to score goals when week on week you only get half chances or none at all and have to spend most of the game with your back to the goal trying to flick it on or bring others into play. He just needs a goal and he'll be fine.

Some of our fans are f***ing embarrassing
This

He won more than he lost the issue is lack of support from midfield

The reason he looked good in first half was link up play with jacky, second half we decided to pretend Jacky's wasn't on the pitch and he was made to look shit by JohnsonJohnson

Hahhaha I don't care about Sunderland. I'm using the same "wah wah Altidore is a utter shite" logic that Sundy fans use. See how pathetic you losers sound.[DOUBLEPOST=1380998723][/DOUBLEPOST]

LOL yea that's why you have a higher unemployment rate than we do? You should take a good lesson from your boy Tony Blair and learn how to be a good lap dog for us Americans

Oh do piss off you Mag wanker.

So, he didn't win absolutely everything thrown at him against Vidic, one of the best defenders in the league, if not the world. Still had him on the run a couple of times and won several freekicks for us. Aye, he had a really shite game.

We need goals mate, ASAP, and he doesn't look like he's got one in him at the minute

He looks like every striker we've had when we're struggling - isolated, expected to win hopeful long balls and not getting any sort of service from the flanks.
We fill the midfield to stop they're attacking threat, don't have the pace in the team to get forward and support him then concede anyway.

When did Altodore ever get a ball down the sides of their centre halves or a half decent one over the back to
play to his strengths.
Although we did play some good stuff there was also ball after ball
simply banged up to him for him to compete for which was right up
Vidic's street.
