1000% this and the accusations of bitterness and jealousy are really starting to get boring. ANY CLUB taken over by the Saudis would get identical treatment. It’s not a vendetta against you bless your cotton socks.

What IS a vendetta is what the Saudi have against gay people and women.

A simple question for NUFC fans - if your gay supporters vanished tomorrow as they’d been put to death would you still be going around wearing tea towels? If last time got promoted to the premier league your mum or sister or wife were told she couldn’t drive to the match because she was a woman would she still get chanting how they ‘get you’.

Be fecking real, they don’t GET the culture of the western, civilised, relatively tolerant world what’s the chances the GET your football club. You’re blind, you’re gullible and you are letting them get away with it by not challenging them.

I'm going to try to stop the emotional stuff and laughter and try to think about this rationally.

They've adopted an almost 'seige like' mentality where its them against the unfair world, and they have invested so heavily emotionally in the KSA they see themselves as 'allies' or even 'as one'.

From there they see things very differently:
An attack on the KSA's human rights record is an attack on them.
Everybody is against them and they must point out the new conversations as 'jealousy, bitterness or hypocrisy'.

The really interesting thing about this is the lack of reflection and soul searching by the vast majority of NUFC fans I see on social media.

This is a new and incredibly complex issue that throws up some really jarring differences between "who I think I am as a human being and my beliefs, values and moral centre" and "what I'll put up with and actually defend if there's the possibility of a reward for me".

There's been a few NUFC supporters on this thread and on social media who've thought through this, but the overwhelming majority haven't just kept their head below the parapet - they've actively thrown themselves into the fight - not to defend the club, but to defend the KSA!

It's "Jones Town kool aid" levels of denial.

The incredibly abusive and offensive 'pile on' on twitter by NUFC supporters when Jamal Khashoggi's widow dared to criticise the takeover showed that for a good number of them that just wasn't in any way important.

I do support my club and football was sold to the devil a long time ago. As for me, I simply enjoy the football and enjoy supporting my club. The politics are not my issue.

I do find the jealousy argument really ridiculous, we’re still getting decent crowds in our 4th season in league 1. It’s safe to say big money signings and wanting to compete at the very top aren’t the be all and end all of what motivates us
 
Problem is thicker mags are getting gas lighted by thousands of Saudi bots, some from Saudi some pretending to be mags. The things that are constantly repeated as a deflection tactic has come from these bots that have stated it so many times, people start to believe it. The art of manipulation and propaganda is central to Saudi approach to the world. You just have to look at that Kate Stewart or whatever the account is called, and why anything remotely critical of the Saudi involvement is suddenly swarmed by replies
