Can't remember the psychological term but if you are being enabled over a long period of time, brainwashing occurs and you believe what you are being told. The media have a lot to answer for in creating this monster.
Even before social media papers, radio, telly BBC etc were obsessed with “connecting” to their readers/listeners/viewers. In a 90s survey we scored very highly for wanting shot of the licence fee *klaxon*

They saw the circus Keegan created and were absolutely made up as the North East was comparable to Liverpool for mistrusting the press.

It’s safe to say it’s gone way too far. Sunderland fans are the last bastion of common sense in the North East and as such we’re studiously ignored in favour of mags (low hanging fruit).

"it's simply bitterness".

You do realise that constantly attacking the motives and agenda of people making a point in no way diminishes the veracity of the point?

And if all you do it attack the people making the point for having ulterior motives and an aganda against you - you're actually reinforcing the fact that they do "have a point"?

Because you constantly ignore it and will do anything other than address it?

As the "template for responses" put out by NUFC fans succinctly put it:

"Deflect! Deflect! Deflect!"

It's like they have a mental block they are are now pro-saudi.
They just can't see it and it's amazing from the outside.
Every whatabout they get out there, it's all defending the Saudis.
Every, but the age of concent is Japan is... they get out there, it's all defending the Saudis.
They've sold their sold, yet they don't seem to have realised it.
At some point you stop googling and posting the age of concent in another country to defend your owners, and think, hang on, how it it come to this?

I did wonder last night when he started posting that just how far down the rabbit hole he'd gone like.

It was bizarre.

We aren't talking about people supporting their club, we are talking about the 110,000 who petitioned the Saudis (yes, just the Saudis) to be your new owners. It wasn't "anyone but Ashley" as many if you are now saying, it was these and these only.
We are also talking about those coming onto social media platforms to, at best deflect from their barbarism or, at worst defend it (not their club, this regime, by the way). I think you may fall into the former.

The Saudi state employ thousands of "flies"(as they're known in the Dissident) who soemd nigt and day om social media attacking anyone speaking out against the state and defending it. You and you ilk are doing it for free, you ARE the Saudi state now so own it, wear the badge but don't come whingeing on here about us having a go because this is what you are.
Brilliant put Mr Hackett sir…..have as many likes as you can stuff up ya vestments.

if he's that good why has he been out of work for so long
He didnt like the norff.
Michael Martin the great radical socialist and dyed in the wool Geordie who mocks Sunderland from his bedroom in Ouston, Chester le Street, showing what a ten faced knacker he is too. Pathetic.

And, again, when are the FSA going to express their concerns on the NUFC takeover? Kevin Miles, one time socialist political activist and lifelong Mag fan and chief executive of the FSA is conspicuous by his absolute silence on this matter. Why, why, why? His organisation comment on every issue going but one initial weak statement on this takeover. Again, why?
The FSA are preparing for their annual elections atm I believe.

The media are very much part of the problem and the lack of questions being asked is baffling when you consider the fuore and the swift government intervention around Yorkshire cricket club.

It’s almost as if there’s some kind of media/government ban on challenging things.

The only journalist who I’ve seen with an ounce of guts is Adam Crafton. Could this because the Athletic who he works for is a) a website not a newspaper , b) subscription-based model so no advertisers to piss of and c) possibly owned by a US company so different libel laws maybe??

Theres been a few Guardian journalists almost apologetically drawing attention to how problematic it is but everyone else seems to be just keen to move swiftly on to gossip mongering around transfer targets for click bait and likes.

No sponsors threatening to pull out or anything.

Like I said, it's simply bitterness, otherwise this would not be used against Newcastle United fans for simply supporting their club like most fans/supporters would do. Including Sunderland fans....etc.
Your club wasn’t bought as a club it was bought as a vehicle for sportswashing. Your club is being using to make it easier for a brutal regime to stay in power and to continue their human rights abuse. It’s not the case that your fans were willing to bear it but actually seem ecstatic to be a party of all of their evil if it meant signing better players for your club.

I can honestly say I’d be devastated if our club became tainted in the same way. You can support your club without selling your soul to the devil.

That’s way too complex for those cretins mate. Far too much common sense.

TBF that's spot on. I will say the other clubs in the NE are pretty screwed on too. Boro never seem to go on like this?
Milliband resigned because he was offered a lot of money for a cushy job in a think tank in New York.
It's still more than what any Newcastle director has done

Another name to add to the list of spineless craven cowards.

"What fans need to stop doing is defending Saudi regime every time someone raises this issue because it’s viewed as a proxy attack on them."

This is what made them such an appealing purchase to begin with.
They’ll never do that unless the Saudis don’t spend hundreds of millions. They are terrified in case they pack up and piss off back to the desert.

It’s normally a safe bet to say when Amnesty International and the widow of a brutally murdered journalist are on the other side of an argument, you’re probably not the good guys
