I thought people were expecting Mendy? He’s a 20 plus a season striker, but for some reason SAFC will think they can get him for next to nowt.

He’s told them he’s not going to play for them, so their options are to take the offer on hand or have an unhappy player around and not contributing.

He’s putting pressure on them, his agent is putting pressure on them. He’s said he is only coming here and I’d say it’s pretty unlikely they won’t eventually cave. Why does it make sense for us to go and pay more than we have to?

They’re very diligent with how much money we spend, and as a club losing millions each year they should be.

We don’t have much of a choice at the moment I don’t think, shit or bust.

I’m not holding my breath for any other striker being signed.

Not saying that this is going to happen, but there has been plenty of instances in football where this has happened and then suddenly a new contract is signed at the existing club with big smiles (including Mbappe himself at PSG). So I don’t think it is clear cut- we just need to make sure we have other irons in the fire.

But they own him, he isn’t self employed or employed by his agent so unfortunately we come to an agreement with the club or we fuck off.

Means nowt that the last owners had an agreement in place with us now, they’re under new ownership now.

Even aside from the previous agreement, you’d think we have a good hand here as he’s told them he isn’t playing for them and wants to leave. Not many clubs keep players around who’ve been so open about wanting out,

Depends how they are going to bankroll the club really doesn’t it? It makes absolutely zero sense to hold him hostage but it’s entirely possible for them to do so just to prove a point if they feel like they can afford to do that.

Can’t imagine they’ll be paying M’Vila a small wage so they must be spending.
