Alex Neil -Sunderland legend in the making.

Did an unbelievable job last season . Love the way he’ll change the team etc to give us the best chance of beating the opposition. Does his homework/attention to detail. Straight talking. Love him. If we don’t do well it will be down to him not being backed enough. The owners should back him to the max and he will take us back the the premier league. Young manager etc.
Despite having known his age since he joined us I’m always surprised whenever someone refers to him and young and I remember he’s only 41…same age as me but lacks my youthful features.

Biggest compliment I can pay is that whenever we look at the team sheet now it’s just “yea okay” and no massive debate questioning his every decision. Can see the difference in the match thread too. He’s earned the trust of the fans and we’re happy to just go with whatever he says as he’s usually successful.
Same with subs…he makes them and people tend to accept them. Previously people would have been jumping up and down when it was a change they didn’t agree with.

Yeah but how outstanding was he at Norwich or Preston ? He’s doing great long may it continue but his spells at those two clubs suggest it might not. Let’s not get carried away.
Aye he has been brilliant for us so far. However, we was sacked at Preston and unemployed for a good spell of time. He may well have had his best players sold there but clearly he did not work miracles for them.

That said, he is about the same age as LJ and they operate on completely different levels. He has achieved more already than LJ ever will.

Never backed, and players sold from under him. Probably had them overachieving. This season they're W1, D4 and have scored one goal.
I knew you’d have an answer…….even if it is irrelevant. So they are a point behind us, what is your point ?
What’s that got to do with Alex Neil ?

He’s a lot more intelliegent than you though….. I had you down as a 17

Neil is better tactically than Reid ever was tbf.
I don’t think that’s fair. It’s just because the tactical landscape has changed to make what Reid did look relatively rudimental now as the world has passed it by, but at the time it wasn’t the case. When Neil takes us to the top of the Premier League with tactics that get more than the sum of the teams parts then maybe he can receive this compliment.

Just feels right and hopefully that is reciprocated as if he continues and we are sniffing around the top half you can guarantee when the inevitable Premier League managers start dropping his name will get mentioned due to his experience and current high stock. Hopefully the people at the top understand this and support him and make sure he is backed both in the transfer market and contractually of and when that comes up.

Just showed today he changed it at half time even when winning 1-0 ....could of even bought 2 subs on after 25 mins or so, he will make mistakes , but is learning from it already....massive win after last weekend and midweek!

Don’t think it was much to do with tactics how we got to seventh twice. Reid had many strengths as a manager but in game adaptability and tactical know how weren’t among them imo.

Very good championship manager can’t believe people were crying over Keane not coming back
I cried over Keane not coming back I will admit, I got it wrong…. Badly wrong. Alex neill has been everything we needed and everything I wanted. Couldn’t be happier to say I was wrong.
