Alex Neil is a fantastic manager & will definitely get you back to the championship in my opinion
Other than his last season with us he consistently over achieved , had us in & around the play off positions & for a club like ours with poor finances was some achievement
In his last season things didn’t work out probably due to the fact he couldn’t get the players he wanted in & as always our better players moved on
Anyway wish Sunderland & Alex all the best

I don’t think there’s any doubt this will happen tbh, contrary to often reported rubbish our fan base gives any manager a fair crack of the whip and even when criticism comes on message boards etc the fans at the games rarely give the manager a hard time until it’s obvious they aren’t the right person. The real annoyance is with the ownership now, lack of transparency at the top and basic incompetence with how it’s been handled. Fair to say the honeymoon period is well and truly over for KLD and he needs to come clean at the next RAWA meeting @Guinness Guzzler .

This is what most fans think. Its a massive come down from keane, so Neil will be starting with that weighing over him, plus the added fan frustration of the club being a shambles and a national embarrassment...

I actually think the debacle of the last 12 days will help Neil. The focus is on the owners. Hopefully, he can just get on with the job and I can't see any reason why the fans should not get right behind him.

There's no such thing as a "guaranteed promotion candidate". Some might give you a better chance, but nothing in football is ever guaranteed. Some of our fans really are frighteningly dim.

If it is Alex Neil, then what we have got is a young coach (still only 40), with lots of experience (Scotland, Championship, Premier League over 9 years), 2 promotions under his belt, highly rated in (and around) the game, track record of getting the most out of what he’s got, and still well thought of at all previous clubs. The only questions might be that he’s never managed lower than the Championship before and he wasn’t massively successful with Preston when they started selling players. He has a much better track record than Roy Keane, and for a club in our position it actually seems like an astute appointment. Time will tell of course. Let’s just get behind him and see where he can take us.

He’s had 5 seasons in the Champsionship, finished 3rd once and outside of the play offs 4 times, and has been sacked twice.

Statistically he’s more likely to not get us promoted. Which was my original point, he’s 100 miles away from a guaranteed promotion candidate.

If we done go up then we start all over again with a hunt for a manager, yet again.

Preston haven’t been in the top flight for 60 years, have been in the playoff places 3 times in the last 20 years, and have one of the lowest budgets in the division. What exactly did you expect him to do at Preston?

It’s a bit like saying that Sean Dyche has managed in the PL for the last 5 seasons and he’s never had them any higher than 7th.

Don’t recall saying anything about Poyet, and was far more than just myself claiming Keane was done and dusted although I may have been the first.
