My guess would’ve been that we’d stop paying him if he got a new job before his original contract ran out - which is a lot more common with clubs and managers than you think. But our local reporter is saying we’re paying him til June regardless of a new job. We’re paying for 3 managers currently, 2 ex and our current.

I think you’d only stop paying completely if he’s getting the same or more money from his new employers, if he’s getting less from new employer I’d of thought only the difference would be paid

Things like pensions company cars etc complicate matters but unless we get to see the actual contract it’s all guesswork

I’d be interested to know what you see in him. I mean, he’s better than Parkinson and Grayson, but that’s such a low bar.

The response of fans/media of his old clubs, many in shock he's dropped to League One.

At Hamilton, he won promotion in his first season to the SPL and then had a strong start before Norwich took him.

Took a Norwich side (that weren't particularly doing too well) in the Championship and took them up to the Prem in his first season.

Considering he didn't spend too much in the Premier League, he didn't come rock bottom (would have been 18th but mags won Spurs 5-0 iirc on final day).

Signed (and possibly identified) players like James Maddison, Ben Godfrey, Pritchard, all of which were sold for large profits, 2 are England internationals.

Lost two of Norwich's best players the following season in Redmond and Brady, and ultimately struggled to push for automatics.

At Preston he worked on a very limited budget, and focused on signing young players.

Despite being on a limited budget, Preston finished 7th, 14th, 9th and 13th in the league under him.

Again, I ask somebody to offer me a manager that is better?

Or you could have a strategy, given all they wibble about is the structure of just parachuting a head coach in within hours of shipping the old one out.

If we don’t get promoted, the manager, whoever they are, will not hold the blame. I could care less if they get promoted tbh, they won’t go anywhere with the likes of Methven floating about.
Do you go to the games ?

He was approached by both. Was rumoured to be close to have signed with West Brom just before our game with them but then he signed a 3 year contract a day or so later. A young settled family with job security helped his decision plus some false promises on the transfer budget which led to his downfall.

I don’t buy it, and I don’t get the fuss over his record.

But I’m happy to give him a chance and see how he goes.

The more drink I've had tonight the more I love the Neil appointment haway the Neil
I think before every game those behind him should adopt a neiling position on KO. Then if they’re still with him at HT do it again as the players leave the pitch. If nee one neils then sack him and get someone else in for the second half.

IMO our team needed a disciplinarian along the lines of Billy Davies ,Warnock, Cloughy, Fergie etc- Im not saying hes as good as them obviously, but hes worked at a level above League 1, and Im hoping he can sharpen the lazy bastards up and get them firing on all cylinders.
I f***ing hope its actually going to be him and not McCann

We’ve scored the joint most goals in the league

If he can organise the defence which let’s be honest Johnson never managed to do, we’ll be a good bet to win the play offs
