Album of the year

We’ve been badly let down by my hopes The Stones, Hotel Lux, Yowl and The Black Pumas this year. Though the latter two are growing on me very very slowly.
Hotel Luxs suffers from a very flat production from the Coral feller who gets raved about, hopefully they get a bit of commercial success soon and it can be given the kiss of life with a remix. Everyone of their singles has been far better produced. The songs are certainly there.
As usual the media hype generated for a Stones album by sources hoping for interviews is out of all proportion to its reality. Which is the standard three predictable good new songs (different one, ballad, keefs) and decent cover. The meat n potato’s standard rock n roll filler that pads out every album since the 70s wouldn’t get a new band signed up. The songs certainly aren’t there.

The end of year lists probably need investigating a bit more. I may be a while.
