Ade Edmondson

Young ones definitely of its time but Bottom more than stands up still today. The two handers they did were comedy genius, only the true greats can do it
From what I remember it was just two daft shites with saucepans being horrible to each other. I'll take another look if uncle Rob is saying it's got more layers like.

Currently half way through his autobiography on audiobook and it's a great listen. Very interesting childhood, getting dragged about the world as his father taught armed forces personal kids in school. Rik Mayall tended to be the dominating one in there partnership/ friendship but Ade has had a much more varied career. Off to see him give a talk about his book at the tyne theater next week. Any fans of his on here?

Do not stick your head out the window. I wonder why?

I didn’t realize he had a book out. Gonna download that. Thank you

By and large, the Comic Strip episodes were either Ade or Rick or indeed both. Were involved in the writing. Were very often the most engaging and amusing. Bad News, Mr Jolly , Eddie Monsoon , Dirty Movie & Fistful of Traveller's Cheques we're all mostly their work. They mostly steered well clear of attempting to be topical or overtly clever I guess. They'd also often steal the show performing in episodes that they hadn't wrote for me.

Fistfull of Travelers cheques was one of the greatest ever for me . I occasionally still come out with lines from it like "this is hotel bastardos" ("you want soft toilet paper go to hotel gay boy" is now audience specific) , " i know where theres a cafe they specialise in food " & " i was a matador but i lost me driving licence "
Much to the absolute confusion of the usually much younger person im talking to 😄

Always liked him, from the young ones and comic strip stuff, all the way through to Star Wars 8(?), good musician as well.

Been looking at some of the old comic strip stuff. Was cutting edge comedy in early 80's. Didn't always come off but when it did it was iconic for me. Always remember Ade as a matador in Fistful of Travellers Cheques.
