acknowledging and respecting his right to liberty is one thing, acknowledging his right to return to a very privileged and unique profession in the public eye is quite another.

If he wants to use his fame and wealth to carry on with similar activities then that is up to him. Football shouldn't help enable him to do it again though.
You’re coming across as if he can’t wait to get back in the game and get back to luring little girls.

He wants to get back into his trade, I don’t have an issue with him about that. I would have an issue with our club hiring him and I’d question any other club doing the same, but as far as he goes, he’s entitled to want to return to football (in my opinion)

Thinking about this a bit more

If he has done his time he has a right to work to provide for his family.

But every company has a right to maintain certain standards of behaviour. And he is representing the city and the supporters. And id prefer to be in league 2 than be represented by him. Football results aren’t THAT important to me

Load of shite. Inmates aren’t allowed to wear any items affiliated to any form of sports team ie football shirts, tracksuits etc for either recreational or training purposes. So the idea of him swanning about in a full kit is extremely far fetched even by the sun standards.
who's been inside then? :lol::lol::lol:

Everything you say is true. That is why he was sent to prison.

But he has served his time. For the sake of humanity we should let him get on with his life.
But somewhere else, as has been stated elsewhere. I don't think we should pursue him, but he should not be welcomed back either.

No Im not. That comment was in direct response to your comment about abusing fame and wealth without football.

If Johnson wishes to pursue a route back into football that is up to him. Football should say no.

should do his badges while he's inside and he'd walk into a player manager role . Who better to advise the young players of all the dangers ?

The age of consent might be 14, but there are still laws in place to protect children from people over 21.
All depends how the law is interpreted from the quick google I did, so there's still a lot of ambiguity and it could well be decided on a case to case basis with the details and people involved....didn't ribery have some problems like this at some point?

"At age 14, a teenager may have sex with other youths under age 18. This prevents the needless criminalization of older youths who are romantically involved with younger teenagers. German legislators feel that it's ridiculous to throw a 17 year old kid into juvie for being in love with a 15-year-old, and they may or may not feel the same way about a legal adult.

This is where the legal situation gets tricky. If the above-mentioned 15-year-old's boyfriend happens to be 18, he is not automatically guilty of statutory rape, unlike in the US. German legal authorities will only step in if either the legal minor or her legal guardians file a police report against the adult.

If the parents file a report but the minor insists that the sexual relationship is/was perfectly consensual, the outcome may depend on the mental maturity of the minor as determined by a psychologist. If it turns out that the minor is mature and knowledgeable enough to give informed consent, the judge is probably inclined to agree with the minor's judgment and will simply close the case. However, a judge may decide differently if the adult partner is not 18 or 19, but instead 30 or 40. ....
Johnson was 25 or so wasn't he? Don't know how that would be viewed over there

In other words, German adults are well advised to keep their hands off of teenagers under 16. And most people have the good sense to do just that, so there is no need to criminalize the occasional 18- or 19-year-old who has a relationship with a particularly mature 15-year-old whose parents don't have any objections. In other words, Germans feel that the spirit of the law is more important than the letter when it comes to matters of the heart, but this doesn't mean that kiddie chasers get a free pass."

But what if he doesn't want to carry on with similar activities? What if he's been rehabilitated?

Not being funny here but if a couple of blokes whove killed people can play again, why shouldn't he
Yeah it's weird how McCormick and Hughes came back to football and no one batted an eyelid, when Johnson is released media will go into overdrive. Weird world and country we live in.

I don't see how that quote has any relevance whatsoever.
Really? I am surprised.

It refers to the erosion of moral standards once the rot begins.

If we make retrospective changes to our legal rulings and then apply them to individuals just because they have been loudly savaged by (in this case) a particularly nauseating newspaper and the baying of the crowd then mob rule begins to apply.

The particular reference in the quote was, I recall, to the Nazis.

I agree. It would show a serious lack of judgement by the club.

But what if he doesn't want to carry on with similar activities? What if he's been rehabilitated?

Then prison has worked and he won't commit a similar crime. Which is exactly what rehabilitation is for. It doesnt mean everything goes back to how it was for Adam Johnson.

The people on here who would be happy for a convicted children sex offender to represent their club need to give their heads a shake and have a long hard look at themselves

Don't you people have any values or morals in life?

It's a reasonable point. McCormick even went back to his old club.

But we wouldn't touch AJ so it's all hypothetical.
