If someone that worked or had access to influence kids in their job did the shit Johnson did, would you be happy for them to continue in the same field after their sentence, with access and influence on kids carrying on as before?

So why didn’t we just lock him up forever? He’s very very rich and can still have similar influences with young girls just because of his fame and wealth

I don't think it's an unpopular opinion mate, I think it's an interesting viewpoint.

There are all kinds of schemes in place right now, set up with the aim of helping ex-offenders back into society. The aim is for them to be given the same opportunities in life as everybody else, once they've served their time. Of course these schemes are aimed at underprivileged people who might otherwise be drawn back into crime, but why shouldn't the same principle be applied to everybody?

If we were to take him back on there'd be moral outrage in some quarters and we'd no doubt be vilified by the tabloid press, plus one or two others, but should that be enough reason to buckle and deny an ex-offender from plying his trade?

Just a hyperthetical of course, it won't happen.

acknowledging and respecting his right to liberty is one thing, acknowledging his right to return to a very privileged and unique profession in the public eye is quite another.

If he wants to use his fame and wealth to carry on with similar activities then that is up to him. Football shouldn't help enable him to do it again though.
