Absolute joke at the end . . .

Why on earth did they let us out the ground then keep us in a police pen.

We told the police we had driven and they said ‘when you get to the train station you can walk to your car’ . . . Eventually they said we could walk out the cordon when it started moving.

Kept behind for half an hour - WHY?? Never ever been kept behind before, always just walked straight out.
Presumably to keep you safe.

I asked about this on another thread but never got an answer, what happened here?
Hartlepool used to have a load of nutters. Remember then once really giving a hiding to Bristol city firm when I was just ambling up church street. Think most of them are dead or don’t go anymore. Back then York would have loved the police escort.

Years ago I left my car at boro at a night game. We arrived late and parked wherever we could. Coming out there was loads of fighting in the streets but generally because of numbers it was ok. The car was parked where there was loads of boro flashing knives. Seeing them we walked back to the buses to the station and got the train. Arrived in Hartlepool and loads of mags were waiting but they were all about 15 and a well known Hartlepool lad walked straight into the middle of them and offered them all out. No one took him up on it. I think this was around 85. Was the first year I’d been to boro when we didn’t take the piss due to numbers. Maybe the time Frontline got organised? Thankfully a peaceful night in the end but didn’t get home till about midnight as my mate had to drive us back to get my car

🤣

What if you'd parked near or at the ground as me and my dad did once there.

Get marched all the way to the station then walk back to the ground to your car under your own steam?

We parked our car at the ground. After speaking with several different officers and finally a Sargent we were allowed to walk to it but not until they had marched us to the bridge.

It was f***ing ridiculous and there is no way in the world that it made trouble less likely. Pretty much nobody in the escort was wearing colours and once people had got ten yards away out of the ground nobody would have had a clue who supported who in the same way as nobody did before the game. As it was you had at least one lad in our support chucking coins at the Boro fans.

There was plenty of vapes coming our way in the escort, one missed my head by no more than a cm. Just attracted more bother and made it harder for the police

What was that 'Cleveland Poiice corrupt' banner about. Specifically ?

I'm not sure if there is one specific incident that triggered it - could well be but I don't know.

Either way it's correct. Even the government had them in special measures for 4 years.

To quote report - "senior leaders consistently demonstrate 'unethical' behaviour". Was back in 2019 but still, that's a disgrace for a police force.

I was on me own going back yesterday and had to walk from the ground to meet my mate in Middlesbrough Town Centre after the game.

A nervy experience. Never knew they hated us that much.

We just waited until the escort had left then turned left as advised by a steward. Back at the car within 10 minutes. Worked out ideally for us.

The Red Faction banner stated:

CLEVELAND POLICE
CORRUPT TO THE CORE
LIVE BY THEIR OWN LAW

The timing was on the back of the events at the recent Hartlepool v York City match ... but they were simply confirming what the vast majority of the Teesside public have felt for years.
What’s the story there?

It's worse for us at your place - over an hour kettled up between where the away coaches were parked and the train station.

Like being back in the 80s
We were singing true enough but we were held back for over an hour and the same last season
Yet Boro fans walked out singing at full time at our place.

It looks like the match passed without major incident, same as the latest Sunderland v Mags game.

It appears trouble between the North East / North Yorkshire clubs is behind us.

Not a bad thing.
Police won't like this? How are they going to get double time for standing around for 8 hours?
