Fuck me, the Blessed Madonna is sitting in today, she’s struggled with sentences on the last link. Ballsed up early on & never really pulled it back.

Aye, she's not the best at presenting but her music selection is a million times better than Mary-Anne Hobbs.Fuck me, the Blessed Madonna is sitting in today, she’s struggled with sentences on the last link. Ballsed up early on & never really pulled it back.

HmmmmmFamous people should pass on more often, cracking chilled out music on 6music today and not much chatter… 3 hours of mark radcliffe followed by 4 of stuart maconie…
I know loads on here slate him, but Lamacq is my favourite. f***ing Mary Ann Hobbs & whichever lass they get to replace her is nee good for me. It feels like a bit of a slog sometimes listening to whichever obscure dance track they’ve found on the internet. I enjoy it all mixed up, but it’s too much of her taste.Still missing Shaun keavney
12.30-1pm is the hardest half hour of radio to listen to on a weekday.I know loads on here slate him, but Lamacq is my favourite. f***ing Mary Ann Hobbs & whichever lass they get to replace her is nee good for me. Isn't that the case with every dj??I know loads on here slate him, but Lamacq is my favourite. f***ing Mary Ann Hobbs & whichever lass they get to replace her is nee good for me. I don't mind her. Except when she plays thrash. Were all different like. Don't get on with Iggy, guy garvey and Giles Peterson. Decent music but smug twat. All the rest are between good to great for me likeI know loads on here slate him, but Lamacq is my favourite. f***ing Mary Ann Hobbs & whichever lass they get to replace her is nee good for me. Yeah, a very obvious answer really. Most of daytime radio presenters need to adhere to the stations playlist. 6 Music for example; barring 2-3 ‘free plays’ (usually special features like Laverne’s While You Were Sleeping, which premieres a brand new song from an artist) the rest of the music you hear is scheduled by the Music Team - a mix of playlist and classic tracks and others that have been more recently playlisted (‘recurrents’). DJs don’t have a lot of personal say before 7pm. Lamacq and Mary Ann Hobbs do get a few more free plays than Laverne or say Craig Charles at 1pm.
Radio 1 (before 6pm) and commercial stations like Radio X, Absolute etc are almost exclusively just the station’s playlist & pre scheduled tracks. X for example has a an automated system to programme shows as does Absolute, theirs picks stuff that hasn’t been played already that day - the No Repeat Guarantee.
With few exceptions, 6pm onwards on BBC stations are the best times to listen out for newer music where the DJs are more specialist.

Ner-ner-ner-ner-nerYeah, a very obvious answer really.
I knew the second the I hit the reply button that I was going to be proven wrong.
I'm just glad it was you that did it.

They should give me a show. I’d be class. Dubliners to Underworld to Val Doonican to The Clash to Count Ossie to Abba.
Anar I’m a f***ing know-it-all, sorry
I find daytime radio hard work sometimes tbf, I miss some of the big personalities (Keaveny was good) and can be the same tunes all day. A list playlist tunes on R1 get a spin in every single show, 6M it’s every other show.
Weekends are a bit different in the day. I enjoy the Huey show. He’s always at pains to point out when he has to play a playlisted track which I find funny.
Still missing Shaun keavney

Radio X is way ahead IMORadio ITk wars! Haway! 6 music takes some beating.
Most of this is untrue.
Radio 1 and 2 daytime music is scheduled in two ways - one current playlist which is by the music team. The other is picked by the production team - which is why Steve Wright’s show sounds different to Zoe Ball’s. The used to use a piece of software called Barcode for this.
Radio 6 will be exactly the same as the above.
Radio X and Absolute use a system called RCS Selector. Each will have about 400 songs in it and the presenters will generally stick to it, in the case of Absolute they have to because their spin off stations schedule songs that are the same length so the presenters sound like they’re on any station that you’re listening to.
So now you know.
Rotations are mathematical calculations not show based.
You’re always looking for rotation of a number of hours plus 35 mins. The calculation also needs to ‘kick’ by at least one hour the following day so the same high rotation song doesn’t get played in the same hour on two consecutive days.
